Tappan Control Board

I first felt along each heating element (bake and broil) hoping to find a rough or blistered place on them. But they were both smooth with no irregular places. (replacing the elements would have been the easiest and cheapest repair. Pulled the back off the range (unplugged, of course) - checked wiring. There were no loose connections or burned wiring. I researched online and found that it was probably one of two things wrong: the heat probe or the control board (clock). Since the probe was less expensive, I ordered that on Appliance PartsPros. It arrived SO quickly, and with the repair video I easily replaced it. BUT... it still got the F10 reading. Sigh. I first checked the power , we had 220 volt at plug, I removed the back of the stove, checked things out , I found that the stove top burners still worked and the oven light worked. I tested and found that we had current to the timer and clock but nothing on the control worked to set the time, or to turn the oven on or to set the oven temp. Replaced Oven Control Board. I already had removed the old part when I ordered the replacement. Part showed up in 48 hours. It took me about two minutes to install the new part. Tested to make sure it worked, then another 30 seconds to screw the back panel of the stove on. Read more

My husband turned the oven to cook one night and there was a loud pop noise. After that there was no power getting to the control board and thus leaving my oven useless I watched the very easy to follow video posted on here associated with my part and I felt confident I would be able to make this repair on my own. Replaced the control board. Labeled the 5 wires before removing them, then took the control board apart looking for a burnt connection found it and ordered a new board. To remove the touch pad i first heated the edges with a heat gun and removed it in one piece. Read more

After some testing, it appeared that both elements were bad. After installing the new elements, the problem remained the same. Even when I tested the voltages it appeared that the Oven Control Board was good. However, since that was really the only part left to replace, I ordered it. Once installed the oven is back to normal. Received my Control Panel and Overlay 2 days after it was ordered!!!! Now I can bake cookies for the holidays!! Sweet!!! Read more
