Indicator light would blink three times, make a sound, but the dishwasher would not run. After making sure there were no obstructions, no problems with seals, filters, and latch clean, I cut the power off and back on. The Dishwasher worked for a few more times. Two weeks ago, my dishwasher would not run. It would beep three times when you pushed the start button: the same signal it gives when the door is open. I used the troubleshooting steps I found at applianceblog.com to do a hard reset. (Hold START and WASH TEMP for five seconds, close the door, and wait 3 minutes) After that, it worked for about one week. When it started having the same issue again, the hard reset did not work. After calling Whirlpool customer support learned that a replacement timer would be $136. The CSR gave me the part number needed. Online I found AppliacePartsPros. A bit of research on the internet indicated the most likely problem was with the defrost system. I found the service manual for the refrigerator and was able to determine that the defrost heater and thermostat passed the self test. The refrigerator would perform a forced defrost which resulted in a cold refrigerator. My GE dishwasher (GDT605PMM0ES) had started going in and out of service but if I unplugged it and plugged it back in it would work a few more times. Then one day that old trick didn't work anymore. The fix was very easy. Control assembly is easy to access by removing 5 phillips screws. Unplug the wiring from the old assembly being careful to note which wire goes to which connector. Install the new assembly and connect the wiring. Read more

GE Washer m/n GTW460ASJ6WW would allow other fill levels, but when set to "super" it would never stop filling. Checked water inlet valve (by initiating a fill and unplugging the unit) to see if the inlet valve was sticking open, that was not the issue. Decided to replace the board even though it is a significant fraction of the cost of a new washer. The control went thru a month or so of erratic behavior; the display would come on and flash and beep without any input on my part. Then it died completely. I did a little research on the GE website and determined likely cause waa a defective user interface board. The selector knob and timer quit working on our GE dryer. We noticed the plastic selector knob was cracked inside when we pulled it off. We decided to order a new timer along with the selector knob just in case the new knob didn't solve the problem. After taking the timer apart to see why it would not turn I found the timer motor was jammed. Taking the motor apart I found a broken gear.
