The Filter Housing is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. As part of the dryer ventilation system, the filter housing holds the lint filter in place, trapping lint and debris before it exits through the vent. It helps prevent blockages in the exhaust vent and surrounding area.
Causes of a bad filter housing can include cracks, breaks or defects in the plastic material over time due to normal use and heat exposure inside the dryer. Increased wear and tear from extended use can also cause damage.
Symptoms of a bad filter housing include:
- Excessive lint building up inside the dryer
- Reduced air flow and inefficient drying times
- Strange sounds like vibrations or rattling coming from the vent area
- Lint escaping from gaps in the filter housing
This genuine OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
