Scott P Dacula , GA March 27, 2021 Appliance: Kenmore Refrigerator 10657572791 Ice dispenser motor bad I received my new part in about 3-4 days. Part was exact match for my existing motor. After watching the installation video on this website I was able to garner the rudimentary directions to replace the motor. The video did not match the exact fridge I had. My fridge did not have the access panel on the interior of the freezer. I had to remove the two screws at the water ice dispenser tray on the outside and slide that unit off the front. Before removing the motor, open the freezer and remove the side bucket. Unscrew the two screws holing the ice dispenser drive gear and remove it carefully as there is a spring under it. Remove the spring and pull the dispenser drive shaft out. Once that was done I lifted up the cardboard cover to access the motor. The motor is in a plastic bracket that must be removed. The screws that secure the motor are not accessibly without removing this bracket. 4 screw hold the bracket in. Once they are removed you can unplug the motor unit and slide it out. Be careful to pull the wiring that is secured under the bracket in two clips out away from the bracket so it can be removed. Once removed, unscrew the 4 screws holding the motor to the bracket and remove the motor. I did a continuity check at this point just to be sure the motor was the problem. I installed the new motor in the bracket. After it is installed reinsert the drive shaft and reverse the procedure to reinstall the unit. Ice maker is working like new and probably saved $200.00 in labor charges. The process is much easier than my description and can be accomplished in about 30 minutes. James C North Charleston , SC April 22, 2014 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GS6NVEXSS01 For the past two years our refrigerator would not dispense ice cube or crushed I read several articles on line about the same problem I was having with my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator. Basically, the auger would not turn to dispense cubes or crush ice and most of the articles blamed the problem on the auger motor. I had a small problem with determining how to access the motor to check it. It only took a day or two to find out how to remove it. After removing the motor, which took about five minutes, I put a meter on the contacts and they checked out, but the shaft was locked up and I was unable to free it. Also there was a lot of metal shavings around the top of the motor and the shaft. Again, I looked on line for the best price and delivery time and found AppliancePartsPro.com to be the best choice for me. I had the part in less than three days and had it installed and operating correctly in less than 10-15 minutes. From what I found out before decided to fix it, it could have cost as much as $250 to $300 to have a repairman do the job. My wife and I are very happy with the results, the service and the savings in both money and time. Michael E Goldsboro , NC September 07, 2014 Appliance: Kenmore Side By Side Refrigerator 10656716500 Ice dispenser motor burnt out Very easy fix you just need a quater inch nut driver and a phillips head screw driver. Removed ice holder from inside freezer door and set aside. Removed the two nuts holding the ice dispenser turning gear in place and set that piece aside. Pulled the shaft and spring that goes to the motor out through the hole and then reattached the gear over the hole without the shaft in it and replaced the ice holder bucket while i waited for the motor to arrive. Removed bottom tray on the panel outside the door where you get ice and water. There are two phillips head screws you need to remove on the bottom back under the tray that was just removed. The entire panel will now come off by lifting and pulling out. There are two electrical connections that must be removed I then set the panel aside. Pulled up cardboard cover to access the motor and removed 4 nuts with nut driver. At this point i reconnect the electrical connections to the front panel and held it there and tested the motor one more time to make sure the motor was bad, the ice door opened but the motor did not run so it was bad. Set front panel aside again and disconnected electrical connection from motor and removed it. Removed the motor from bracket held on with 4 nuts. Put everything back in reverse process. There was a large rubber washer on the bottom of the motor shaft I almost forgot to put it back when reassembling. Brian D Highlands Ranch , CO September 09, 2019 Appliance: KitchenAid Refrigerator KSRS25RSMK01 Unit was making ice but not dispensing ice Replaced dispenser motor and while at it, replaced the driveshaft seal and washer for the auger. I watched a video on Appliance Parts Pros to learn of the potential problem, the only difference was I had to remove the front of the dispenser area to access the motor. The job was fairly easy and no doubt saved 150-175 due to no service call Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Nut Drivers
