I read several articles on line about the same problem I was having with my Whirlpool Gold refrigerator. Basically, the auger would not turn to dispense cubes or crush ice and most of the articles blamed the problem on the auger motor. I had a small problem with determining how to access the motor to check it. It only took a day or two to find out how to remove it. After removing the motor, which took about five minutes, I put a meter on the contacts and they checked out, but the shaft was locked up and I was unable to free it. Also there was a lot of metal shavings around the top of the motor and the shaft.
Again, I looked on line for the best price and delivery time and found AppliancePartsPro.com to be the best choice for me. I had the part in less than three days and had it installed and operating correctly in less than 10-15 minutes. From what I found out before decided to fix it, it could have cost as much as $250 to $300 to have a repairman do the job.
My wife and I are very happy with the results, the service and the savings in both money and time.
