Charles H Jacksonville , FL June 26, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Compact Automatic Washer LHW0050PQ4 The water pump in my compact whirlpool washer was making an incredible racket and wouldn't drain Very simple repair really. Unplugged the washer, moved the washer in order to have access to the back panel. Remove 13 #20 torx screws holding the back panel on ; then removed back panel. Open the filter access on the front bottom of the washer to drain any remaining water, be sure to have a towel ready, as if the pump is bad, there's bound to be quite a bit. Looking at the washer from the back, the bottom left contained the pump. Remkve the two electric connectors and move out of the way. Remove the drain hose by opening the clamp holding it to the pump, set aside. Remove the inlet hose from the front of the pump by opening the clamp. Tilt the washer forward enough to have slight access to the bottom of the washer. There are 2, 10mm bolts holding the pump in place, remove them and the pump comes right out. Reassembly is simply the reverse order. Read More... 7 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
John K Havana , AR September 17, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Compact Automatic Washer LHW0050PQ4 Washer would not empty water & often would not start unless door was repeatedly slammed Water pump replacement was a breeze. The hardest part was getting to the back of the washer (installed in a motorhome). Switch replacement was a little trickier. Be sure to read the instructions shipped with the switch! Replacement switch has a different pin arrangement than the original. New switch help with washer starting problem, but did not entirely solve the problem. Door must be FIRMLY seated against seals to start washing cycle. This sometimes requires a second "push" on the door. Once a click is heard, the cycle soon begins. Chris C South Yarmouth , MA July 11, 2015 Appliance: Whirlpool Compact Automatic Washer LHW0050PQ2 Dishcharge pump was making a racket grinding noise and reduced ability to pump the water out of the washer Followed the instructions given by Appliance Parts Pros. com. Very easy task. The only difference from the instructions given was I did not have to remove the top of my washer. The back panel was independent and easily removed by the 10 torx screws. It was as simple as drain the washer from front filter drain, unplug, shut off water supply (my hoses were long enough so I did not have to disconnect), remove back, remove pipe clamps, unplug wiring, tilt forward and remove two bolts holding old pump, remove pump, and then reverse order to put it all together. All together it took about an hour, at a very relaxed pace from getting my tools to having them all put away. END RESULT: The washer has never been so quiet. It always had a noisy discharge pump since we owned it (discounted return from Lowes), but now it is whisper quiet. I must say Appliance Parts Pro states their average delivery of parts is 1.7 days with standard shipping, I ordered my part at 3:40pm and had it the next morning by 11am. Fastest shipping I have every received from any mail order service. Outstanding experience. "Very pleased" is an understatement. Though I am very handy and can do just about anything (especially after watching a video), I am confident just about anyone could tackle this job with success and no frustration. Perhaps the most difficult thing would be to make sure you have the proper screwdriver, in my case, a "Torx 15," on hand.
