Microwave won't start or shows door error? A blown thermal fuse is often the cause. This part protects circuits and restores power once installed.
I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more

Fix a microwave that won't heat or shuts off unexpectedly. This thermal cut-off thermostat protects against overheating. DIY-friendly repair.
I measured the resistance between the two connectors on the magnetron: should be close to zero ohms and it was. I measured between the same connectors and the metal case: should be mega ohms, it was 15k ohms. That is a bad, partly shorted unit. I also checked the resistance of the thermal cut off, which should be zero but was 10 ohms so I replaced. The HV diode is checked with a 9 V battery (YouTube checking microwave HV diode) and it too was bad. Make sure to take pictures as you disassemble... Read more
Oven won't heat or shuts off early? This 60°C fixed thermostat controls fan operation and protects controls. Common fix when bake and broil stop working.
Following the instructions that I received through the helpful research of the APP staff, I disconnected the power, disassembled the back of the oven, and accessed the hidden element. This involved bending parts of the sheet metal and cutting the insulation, so I was very apprehensive about doing this. Once I exposed the compartment that contains the element, I had difficulty extracting the old part and was really nervous about pulling hard to extract it - until I saw the damaged element. It... Oven won't heat properly or overheats after self-cleaning? A faulty lower thermostat often causes temperature regulation issues. Moderate DIY repair.
I was devastated to hear my wife tell me our Whirlpool double oven was dead after she used the self clean mode. After my research, I found this problem to be more common than expected. APP was quick, the price was excellent and when I called their staff I found them to be friendly, knowledgeable and thorough! They had my parts to me in no time and I fixed... Read more

Oven won't heat after self-clean? This thermal fuse protects your oven from overheating. Replacement takes about 1 hour with basic tools. Video guide included.
Not sure which fuse might be bad, I ordered all three. The oven is almost twenty years old, so I figured it couldn't hurt to replace them all. The breakers marked oven were tripped, so we figured everything was off. Wrong! The 220 and the 120 are separate breakers. We found this out the old fashioned way, we got shocked. Anyway, the fix is pretty simple. Take off decorative trim. Only one screw on each side holds it on. Remove four screws securing oven to cabinet, and slide oven out. Our oven... Read more
Oven stops working after self-clean? This thermal fuse acts as a safety cutoff when temperatures exceed safe levels. Common fix for KitchenAid ranges.
I read this is a common problem with Kitchenaid stoves. The most common part to replace is the thermal fuse on the back of the stove. I replaced it and the stove still didn't work. I learned through the help of this website that there is a second fuse that may have blown also. It was difficult to find through the help of one of your staff members I located it in the front instrument panel of the stove. I ordered the recommended part that had failed and installed it today. The stove is... Read more
