I searched online and found the parts on this site. Since I needed them as soon as possible I ended up calling a local self-proclaimed Whirlpool expert shop. When I told the guy on the phone my situation he told me "you can't buy those separately." It was a relatively easy fix and the video instructions on this site provided were helpful. The one piece that wasn't clear is the alumilastic was already on the replacement part so a separate tube is not required. That wasn't clear on the video and was an unneeded expense. Read more

Purchased the WPL 40922 hose kit. This kit is reasonably priced and has everything you might need to retrofit to most legacy Whirlpool brand washers. The fix went well and I also cleared the water solids build-up on the fill nozzle at the inlet to the wash tub. Read more

I replaced the controller. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get to it. The video on the website showed access to the control via the rear panel. On the Kitchen Aid we have, the back panel is part of the range's main frame and does not come off. Turns out, 2 screws behind the fluorescent lamp had to be removed and the entire control panel housing lifts up and can be tilted forward. I had the problem couple years ago I bypassed unbalance switch it worked fine for a couple years and had the same problem again so ruled out unbalanced switch. Door lock light on and checked made sure wax motor pushed out all the way too the second switch for spin check OK, so took a chance on displacement switch x2. My family loves to over load it and also replaced by passed unbalance switch and boom every thing went back to normal. Its also good to clean every thing when apart. Read more
