The washer was on, and I heard a faint humming sound in the laundry room. I went in and opened the washer and it was full of soapy water in the middle of its cycle and was not agitating. I also smelled a faint burning smell. At this point I figured the problem was a bad motor, as the washer is more than 20 years old. I first checked to make sure the washer was level. The washer is on a concrete floor. After watching lots of you tube videos I ordered all the parts that could be causing this problem. I ordered: Balance Ring, Suspension Pad Kit (3 rectangle plastic wear pads), Tub Suspension Pads(3 curved plastic wear pads), Suspension Spring, and a Spanner Wrench tool. I had removed three screws behind the control board cover of the washer, to access the old lid switch. I checked the continuety of the of the switch with a multimeter and it obviously failed the the test by displaying infinity of <1, rather than being 0. I removed the old switch with a flathead screw driver, I tested the new one and installed it in no time. Problem solved!!! Read more

Removed the old tub cover/gasket by removing the front panel and top lid. Then, unclipped the tub cover. Read more

Followed the directions as per the video and it took me about 3 minutes to fix and looked new. Perfect. Read more

Filled tub to about 6 inches and inspected washer. Noticed that the tube leading from the air entrapment bubble on the exterior side of the drum had a small leak in it. Clipped off the part of the tube that had the hole in it(it was very close to the connector nipple) reconnected and problem was solved. Read more

I replaced the controller. I had a heck of a time figuring out how to get to it. The video on the website showed access to the control via the rear panel. On the Kitchen Aid we have, the back panel is part of the range's main frame and does not come off. Turns out, 2 screws behind the fluorescent lamp had to be removed and the entire control panel housing lifts up and can be tilted forward. I had the problem couple years ago I bypassed unbalance switch it worked fine for a couple years and had the same problem again so ruled out unbalanced switch. Door lock light on and checked made sure wax motor pushed out all the way too the second switch for spin check OK, so took a chance on displacement switch x2. My family loves to over load it and also replaced by passed unbalance switch and boom every thing went back to normal. Its also good to clean every thing when apart. Read more

First I used epoxy which I do not recommend since it can interfere with the later replacement of new knobs. The replacement of new knobs went easily with the exception of getting the epoxy off. Getting the epoxy off is difficult and required a Dremel to cut the plastic and slip joint pliers to peel the plastic off. Read more

I figured out that the problem was the latch. I entered my model and serial #s. I chose the part that I needed and was treated to a video on how to do the job and what I would need for tool This saved me hours of trying to reason the job out on my own. Installed the part and now the washer is like new again. The new latch even came with a light bulb. I had not expect this and ordered a new bulb. But now I have a spare!! Read more
