Dryer won't heat or start? A failed thermostat breaks the heating circuit. Common DIY fix—test for continuity with a multimeter. Typical repair time: 30-60 minutes.
Changed Thermistor, Thermostats and the Thermal Fuse Assembly. I did not remove drum, so squeezing my hands in-between drum and vent hose pipe to remove screws was a tight fit, but doable. Read more

Fix a dryer not heating or taking multiple cycles to dry clothes. This heating element repair kit restores heat output. Moderate DIY repair for most models.
PLEASE UNPLUG DRYER FIRST. This was my first attempt at trying to fix my dryer (Maytag SDE515DAYW). Order the element kit Part Number AP4046564. The installation was easier than I thought. Just removed the two front panels and I was able to reach the back of the dryer, under the drum (this is where the heat element was located), disconnected the wires (took pictures first) and removed the two screws that held the heat element. Dryer won't heat or stops when hot? A faulty cycling thermostat disrupts temperature regulation. Testing with a multimeter confirms the issue.
I replaced both the cycling thermostat and the hi limit thermostat along with a new thermal fuse and it seems to have fixed the problem. I thought it might be one of the thermostats but they both had continuity so I decided one of them must be faulty in some way so I just replaced both of them. I was very pleased with the prices and the quick shipping from Appliance Parts Pros. The parts were at my house in only a day and a half from when I ordered them. Read more

Dryer won't heat or overheats? This high limit thermostat cuts power when temperatures get too high. Common fix for no-heat issues. Easy install.
When I pulled out the dryer from the wall, I could see dust/lint had accumulated everywhere and the vent system was compromised. I vacuumed up the dust/lint accumulation outside and then inside the vent system. I then opened the lower cabinet to clean and check its condition. I removed the water steamer bottle and its sub-assembly and then the drum. After cleaning and inspecting components — both visually and with a multi-meter I determined the problem was the appliance doing what it was... Read more
