This is an electrically operated water inlet valve assembly with a built-in vacuum break (backflow preventer) for a washing machine. It controls the flow of hot and cold water into the wash tub when the machine fills during a cycle. Replace this valve if the washer is not filling with water, fills slowly, continues to fill when it should stop, or if you notice water leaking from the valve area.
