Very old MTD mower that Iam refurbishing with new grass shoot baffles and power assist parts Joseph R. • South Charleston , WV • May 23, 2018
I am still waiting on the main baffle parts and power assist parts. They ship all at once. It has been about three weeks. I have had to hire a person to do the places where my riding mower (hillsides) can not go. I just got it back from repairs too. Weather has been pretty wet, so that put a damper on all of it. My project is not finished. I did patch, paint, undercoat, and paint it red underneath and outside.

This spring brake is a genuine Midwest Engine part that can be used as a replacement part for outdoor appliances with small engines, including lawn mowers, chipper shredders, snowblowers, and other such appliances. Spring brakes are a braking system employed a large, coiled spring that is kept under high tension; the control valves attached to the spring brake are the mechanism by which the spring brake is released. If the spring brake has been damaged, is malfunctioning, or is in a state of disrepair, this will manifest in the form of a sudden, volatile eruption from the air brake chamber. This is a dangerous state for a small engine, so repair should be conducted immediately. Additionally, a new spring brake part should be ordered before any attempt to use the appliance without a proper repair. Remember to always wear gloves when handling, repairing, and operating outdoor equipment, and stay safe around the small engine of the appliance if the spring brake has malfunctioned and caused a dangerous situation. This spring brake is compatible with the brands Briggs and Stratton, Cub Cadet, and Toro.

This replacement compression spring is a genuine OEM part for a snow thrower. Though small, this compression spring plays a major role in the throttle control lever. The throttle connects to the governor arm through two linkages. When then operator moves the throttle lever, it causes the linkages to move and reposition the governor arm. This is because of a spring that engages the mechanism. Over time, springs will wear out due to repeated use. This spring, in particular, is fairly exposed and could easily sustain physical damage that can break it. Either way, if the compression spring is not working, the throttle will not reposition the governor no matter how much the operator moves the lever. Using a wrench set, remove the bolts that mount the throttle to the snow thrower and unthread the spring from the lever. A pair of needle-nose pliers will make this easier. Rethread the replacement spring onto the lever and bolt the throttle back into place. This replacement compression spring is a high-quality part sourced from its original manufacturer and is compatible with engines made by Tecumseh, Lawn Boy, Toro, Husqvarna, and MTD. This part does not include any additional hardware and ships individually.
