Replace a gas range burner valve that's broken, stuck open, or causing hard-to-adjust flames. Moderate DIY repair requires raising the stovetop.
After turning off the gas and unplugging the electricity, I removed all the burners from the stove top using a 3/16" hex socket. Then used a 1/4" socket to removed two or three screws under each burner which hold the burner base to the bottom of the top panel. Then pulled all the knobs and removed the front panel which was held in by two Phillips screws accessible from underneath the panel. It helps to open the oven door to get at these screws. Replacement hinge for range oven doors. Sold individually; doors use two hinges. Replace if door won't stay closed, drops too fast, or is misaligned.
I had to take out the bottom drawer that holds pans. Disconnect the power and pull the oven out. Removed door, rear panel that held the screws for the side panel and lift up and out the side panel. It was a simple fix. I removed the six screws holding the side panel on the range. Removed the broken parks of the spring. I use a screwdriver to help stretch the new spring into place. I then replaced the side panel and screwed it on. About ten minutes work. Read more

When trouble shooting the problem I found that the light switch housing outer lip was broken allowing the switch to push through mounting surface behind the oven door. This is a slide in range so, I proceeded to pull the range away from the counter where I could unplug the power cord. Once the power was off like located the panel on the right upper side of the unit and removed the screws to allow access to the switch.
