How to Troubleshoot & Replace Frigidaire AP4982498 / 297366203 Control Display Unit

My Kenmore elite upright freezer model started buzz beeping and interior light blinking, but only when I opened the door while the compressor was running. It would not stop until I closed the door, and then the freezer would return to normal. It never had any error codes and didn't do it if the compressor was off.This happened for several weeks until I opened the door one day while the compressor was running and the freezer shut off and random lights on the control panel were on. I unplugged the freezer and pulled the control panel off with a 2" putty knife and visually inspected it but I found nothing unusual. So I put it back on and plugged the freezer back in and different lights were lit up on the control panel than before but the freezer interior light was still off and the compressor never started back up. Then I knew the control panel was the issue. 

I replaced the electronic control panel. 

Looking in the parts breakdown for our freezer, I saw there was a single module for control and display. Others reported similar symptoms fixed by replacing the module, so I ordered one overnight (the freezer was thawing). There were no instructions in the box, but the online part description indicated it pries out and pops back in. That was just the way it was: I turned the power off to the freezer, pried the control out with a putty knife and a screwdriver, then pushed the Control Display replacement in. When I turned the power back on, it all worked like new. It took about five minutes, including the "stare and compare" to be sure I had the right part. 

I ordered the front control panel and it fixed the issue right away. Shipping was fast and very quick. Thanks 

I got the part from ApplianceParts and did it myself. V. easy and saved $200 labor. 

Unplugged display by pulling up on edges with putty knife, thin screw driver, or finger nails. Plugged in new display. Very easy fix! 

It all started with a false power-out alarm I reset the alarm and then after it cycled I would have to unplug it for a restart. I replaced the digital display board and all is well. 

I replaced the control and it was a super-easy replacement. The only tool needed was a small flat-head screwdriver to pry the existing panel off. The new panel slid into place and Bob's your uncle!

I was fortunate that I landed on your web site as I entered the part number a customer of yours described how they had solved the same problem I was experiencing. I ordered the control, (you got it to me in 2 days; THANK YOU VERY MUCH) followed the previous customer's instructions, problem solved. Popped the control panel off with a putty knife, replaced the defective unit. 

Had a repairman out who quoted me a ridiculous price. I submitted to AppliancePartsPros a question on how to fix and they responded with the part I needed and how easy it was to repair ourselves. The part came in one day, even though they said it would come in 3 days, yeah for me. It was easy to replace, just pop the old control panel off and push the new one in place
