T April 13, 2021 for Model Number 253.28712809 Is there a difference between controller # 297366203 and 297366205? One is backordered and the other isn't, so I'm wondering if the x205 could be used instead of the x203.
1 Answer Hello T, The parts are different or they would have the same part number. We are not able to tell exactly what the difference is but if the part number is different, it will not work properly if one that is not engineered for the model is not used. Your unit calls for 297366203. This is the only one that is guaranteed to operate properly for your unit. Read More...

Doug November 26, 2017 for Model Number 25328712802 After house power cycled a couple times, the freezer will not freeze anymore. The control panel Quick freeze and Control Lock lights are on. It won't unlock when the button is held for longer than three seconds, which is what the instructions say is required to unlock. The main LED panel shows 1 HRS and degrees in F. The Door Ajar and Power Loss lights are off. The inside freezer light does not turn on either. It was freezing perfectly before the power outage. I suspect the control panel is shot but thought I'd see what others think. Thanks for the help!
1 Answer Doug, Based on this information it does sound likely that the control panel of the unit has failed and would recommend replacement of the control. Read More...
Bennie September 26, 2017 for Model Number 28452805 I replaced temperature control continues to beep and display E-9 10F , what is the problem?
1 Answer Hello Bennie. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx Read More...

Eduard September 14, 2015 for Model Number 253.28092805 This is a Kenmore Elite which suddenly lost the ability to maintain freezer temps. Control panel read -F- and none of the buttons would work. (Of course everything thawed before I learned this was an issue.) Upon unplugging the freezer and restarting, the unit appeared to work, but it runs constantly. Had Sears repair come out and quoted me a price of $396 to effect control panel replacement. My question, if I am fairly handy with my hands, is this something your typical homeowner can accomplish? Are there any tutorials available for doing this? Thank you in advance. Eduard
1 Answer Eduard, The control on this unit is part number 241988078. The control board is easily replaced with no tutorials needed. You would simply use a flat blade to get up under the control and pop the control board out. Then just push the new one onto the unit and plug the unit up. Read More...
Hamid R April 01, 2015 for Model Number Kenmore upright freezer, 16.7 cft, Model 970-187020 The freezer is only a couple of years old. Shortly after I got it (brand new) the controls locked up. A service technician came and (probably) reset something; the freezer started working and it worked perfectly for about two years. Then the same problem came back. Another tech visit to reset the control and the freezer is working quite well once again. Unfortunately, I could not talk to the repair technician as to what exactly he did. Removing power from the freezer for a few minutes or even an hour did nothing to it. I wonder what goes wrong with the unit to lock up the controls? Is there an easy way to check/trouble shoot this freezer? Is there any help you can offer to diagnose the problem?
1 Answer Hamid, In most cases if the control board is locking itself then the issue would be with the control board having a key that gets stuck. As for what you can do to trouble shoot. It would be a internal error in the control and would be no way to trouble shoot it. If you have the owners manual, check to see if there is a control lockout section and if it locks out again try to unlock it as it could just be where someone pushed the wrong button. Read More...
