Adam B Louisville , KY January 20, 2019 Appliance: Model 253.28712800 Control board My Kenmore elite upright freezer model started buzz beeping and interior light blinking, but only when I opened the door while the compressor was running. It would not stop until I closed the door, and then the freezer would return to normal. It never had any error codes and didn't do it if the compressor was off.This happened for several weeks until I opened the door one day while the compressor was running and the freezer shut off and random lights on the control panel were on. I unplugged the freezer and pulled the control panel off with a 2" putty knife and visually inspected it but I found nothing unusual. So I put it back on and plugged the freezer back in and different lights were lit up on the control panel than before but the freezer interior light was still off and the compressor never started back up. Michael P Flagstaff , AZ April 17, 2023 Appliance: Model 253.28092805 The freezer was intermittently thawing. The display had many dim segments and alarmed intermittently. Looking in the parts breakdown for our freezer, I saw there was a single module for control and display. Others reported similar symptoms fixed by replacing the module, so I ordered one overnight (the freezer was thawing). There were no instructions in the box, but the online part description indicated it pries out and pops back in. That was just the way it was: I turned the power off to the freezer, pried the control out with a putty knife and a screwdriver, then pushed the Control Display replacement in. When I turned the power back on, it all worked like new. It took about five minutes, including the "stare and compare" to be sure I had the right part.
