Francis B Hamilton , VA June 07, 2016 The dreaded "se" code on my samsung microwave Went to AppliancePartsPro and read reviews related to similar problems. It looked like I needed the Control Assembly Panel (basically the entire touch pad, not the electronics behind it?) Was reluctant at $85, but after seeing the 365-day return policy I figured why not try it. I was shocked when the part arrived the NEXT day after I ordered it! Installation took about 20-minutes. Only tricky part was figuring out how to disconnect the "ribbon cable" connecting the touch pad to the board behind it. Hint: Gently pull the TOP of the white plastic plug which holds the ribbon cable. Only pull it up about 1/8th of an inch, This will release the ribbon which then can be removed from the old panel and reinserted into the new panel (after pulling the top of that plug up in a similar manner.) Then push down on the white plug to lock the ribbon into the plug. Be sure the ribbon is firmly seated all the way into the plug. Quite easy if you do it gently and DON'T try to remove the entire plug and ribbon. Go for it! But why does Samsung not make this a "recall" item and offer to supply the fix at no charge?? Mary Beth R Mount Holly , NC July 28, 2014 Appliance: Model SMH9817B Se Last year, when I Googled the microwave manufacturer's name and the error code, I found a video on YouTube that showed how to access the control board and clean the contacts. That worked for almost a year. Then the "SE" showed up again, and the contact-cleaning trick didn't work. A new Google search led me to www.MicrwaveDisplay.com, where Ed Miller referred me to you. He could as easily have charged me to send him my old keyboard panel and control board, and ordered the part from you, himself, but he didn't. I ordered the part and it came in 2-days. I am a 72-year-old retired English professor--not a human-subtype known for high mechanical aptitude. But your 365 day return policy meant as long as I didn't damage the new part, it would cost me nothing but return postage to try to fix it myself. And I did! It's working fine. I am very proud of myself, very admiring of Ed Miller's generous customer service, and very grateful to AppliancePros. Bonnie O Bismarck , ND June 09, 2019 Appliance: Samsung Microwave SMH9187B/XAA 5E or SE error code Very simple job! Gained access to old panel/motherboard, tilted out old panel/motherboard and disconnected all wires from microwave to motherboard, removed old panel/motherboard, disconnected motherboard from old panel, and then reversed steps starting by connecting motherboard to new panel, and so on.
