Steve S Derby , KS September 10, 2020 Appliance: Model GX5SHDXTQ00 WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR Ice maker quit generating ice. Water in mold but it wouldn't cycle cubes out. Disassembled unit and after watching some service videos, determined that defrost thermostat was defective. The mold was also flaking off, so I ordered a new mold, defrost thermostat and the Alumilastic Cement to assure thermal contact between thermostat and mold. Parts came quickly and I transferred all components to the new mold. Reinstalled ice maker and it is now generating fresh clean ice! Russell R Mc Lean , VA July 25, 2021 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator ED25DQXAW01 My ice maker stopped working. Tested the "head" of the ice maker and found the thermostat was not working. Used the video at Appliance Parts Pros to learn how to use the Alumilastic Cement and after unplugging the side by side, I removed the thermostat; cleaned off the old cement; replaced the thermostat, and applied a glob of cement. I noticed that the metal water feed tube for the ice maker at the back of the unit was full of ice. I carefully removed the ice. I could use a pointed chopstick before reassembling the ice maker. Some ice remained in the upper curved part of the feed tube however, I had to leave the house so I reassembled the unit. When I returned there were ice cubes. Michael R Colorado Springs , CO January 18, 2022 Ice maker wasn't making ice. After reading some other testimonials and watching the repair video, we ordered an new cycling thermostat, the part and the necessary cement showed up a few days later. Besides a few tabs on the ice maker bin that were a bit tricky to detach, the repair was pretty simple, the most time was spent taking all the food out and removing the various drawers and slide out trays, and then putting them all back in once the repair was complete. We replaced the thermostat, and VOILA, 24 hours later we had a bin full of ice. THANK YOU APPLIANCE PARTS PROS!!! You guys are the best! Great videos, super easy ordering, you make it as easy as possible to do your own appliance repair work and save hundreds of dollars. In one week we had both our refrigerator stop making ice, and our washing machine stop discharging water. The two repairs in total cost $100 - saving us probably $1,000. Keep up the great work!
