Steve S Derby , KS September 10, 2020 Appliance: Model GX5SHDXTQ00 WHIRLPOOL REFRIGERATOR Ice maker quit generating ice. Water in mold but it wouldn't cycle cubes out. Disassembled unit and after watching some service videos, determined that defrost thermostat was defective. The mold was also flaking off, so I ordered a new mold, defrost thermostat and the Alumilastic Cement to assure thermal contact between thermostat and mold. Parts came quickly and I transferred all components to the new mold. Reinstalled ice maker and it is now generating fresh clean ice! 4 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes
