Frank C Worcester , MA March 04, 2016 Ice maker was freezing up and not dumping properly SO I FIGURED THAT ALL THE MECHANICAL PARTS OF IT WERE FINE SO THE LOGICAL THING TO DO WAS TO REPLACE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS WHICH CONSISTED OF THE THERMOSTAT {THE BRAIN} AND THE CONTROL MODULE WHICH I PURCHASED AT A VERY REASONABLE PRICE . I REASSEMBLED THE UNIT AND IT HAS BEEN WORKING LIKE NEW EVER SINCE. THANK YOU! Justin A Buda , TX September 19, 2014 The icemaker ice mold coating was flaking off It was a relatively easy fix and the video instructions on this site provided were helpful. The one piece that wasn't clear is the alumilastic was already on the replacement part so a separate tube is not required. That wasn't clear on the video and was an unneeded expense. Scott R Durham , NC July 06, 2015 Icemaker stopped working Using online information about test ports I was able to narrow the problem down to either the thermostat or the motor/control module. To cover my bases I ordered both parts plus the alumilastic adhesive that is needed for the thermostat replacement. Removing this particular icemaker without removing the freezer shelves is a bit of a contortionist job, but it is possible with patience. Indeed, the motor/control module was at fault since one of the heater contacts had burnt/melted. Replaced the module and the thermostat and reinstalled and we were back in business. Mike C Old Hickory , TN June 20, 2020 Appliance: Whirlpool Refrigerator GI6SARXXF05 Ice maker not making ice. Our Whirlpool GI6SARXXF05 ice maker stopped making ice. I read A LOT of forums, viewed A TON of YouTube to try to self diagnose the possible issue. APP.com helped to point me in the right direction. Symptoms were: Not Making Ice, No water was being dispensed into the ice maker tray BUT was working perfectly in the left French Door outer dispenser. I removed the ice maker (per a video I found, actually fairly easy for a DIY) inspected the ice tray, all looked good. I 1st replaced our water filter. Still a no-go. I then ordered (mistakenly) and replaced the thermostat. I meant to order the Inlet valve, but since I did it on my phone, I didn't pay attention....(duh). But after chatting in with Kayla, she immediately suggested replacing the Inlet Water Valve because of what I described. She hit the nail on the head 100%!!! Ordered and replaced the rear side Inlet Valve. The total time to R&R was 15-20 minutes. APP.com will ALWAYS be my 1st choice as a DIY's. Simply the best Customer Service, Pricing, and Expertise that is literally Priceless. Thank you. P.S. - The Alumilastic Cement was ordered because I didn't order it when I mistakenly ordered and replaced the thermostat. So I R&R'd the T-stat again and applied the Alumilastic Cement to guarantee that the T-Stat repair was to be good and not an issue. I sometimes do it right because I do it twice....oy... lol Read More... 27 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers, Wrench Set

Timothy D Lewisville , TX December 09, 2019 Appliance: Model KENMORE ELITE SIDE BY SIDE, CIRCA 2000. Ice cycles from the bottom of the mold, causing ice in bin to form a solid block and broke the dispenser drum due to it. Replaced mold and drum. Trivial task for all - basic screwdriver skills, quick, accessible, and easy. Note that the thermal compound is provided already on the ice mold in current parts, and that you do *NOT* need to order the very expensive tube of Alumelastic cement (and mine will be going back!).
