How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5957560 / W10712395 Upper Dishwasher Dishrack Adjuster Kit

1) 3 clarifications on the assembly: 1. the rack adjuster lever with the "claw"- the claw does not fit into any slots. It just sits up there. It is the knobs on each side of the lever section that fit into the 1/2 moon cutouts of the housing. 2. for the wheel clips in the last step- In order to get them to snap into place, I had to adjust the height of the wheel assembly by releasing the rack adjuster lever. 3. look closely at the rack end-keeper clips. There is a tiny raised lever in the center that when pressed-lifts the lock clasp on the other side. In the video, he just pulls them off and pushes them back on. I guess his are newer and of a more forgiving rubber and mine are a stiffer more brittle plastic. I had to gently and patiently coax mine off and on while confirming it was securely on. Ensure the clasp clicks in place. Watching him do the second one helped the best because of the close-up shot. 2) Watch the entire video on a laptop first. Do not try to do the procedure while watching it for the first time on a phone. I went out and bought a star screwdriver before I learned that they included a nifty adapter. I could not get the tiny video picture to enlarge. The icon that I expected to make full-screen, just tried to send to my TV. 3) This part was cheaper on the Brand Name site, but I'm glad I paid more for this part from this company because I appreciate their dedication to customer service by making this video. 4) I was mad that I had to pay for the entire assembly when I only needed a wheel. Fact: I found a second broken wheel that I did not know about. The old plastic parts were so brittle that 2 of them broke when I removed them and would not have been reuseable. 

Ordered the Adjuster Kit which appeared to be the only replacement kit that had the wheel bar and wheels. Arrived in 2 days. The replacement rolling wheel bar and wheel "axles" are metal and much better quality than what came with the dishwasher originally. Everything fit perfectly. Took about 20 minutes. 

My Kenmore dishwasher Model 665.13269k112 needed a new adjusters so the rack could slide on the rail tracks. I installed Part no. W10712395 and it works great. It took me about 45 minutes because my eyes could not decipher the photos in the instructions. But after a few retries it all came together. I'm pleased with the results. The kit arrived early, and just in time for Thanksgiving. When I opened the box, I was skeptical that I ordered the correct parts since they looked COMPLETELY different. The original parts were entirely plastic (no wonder the wheel snapped off); the new ones were steel. But I’ve ordered from Appliance Parts Pros before so I trusted that the kit would work. Getting the old parts off was tricky and took the most amount of time. The directions enclosed were precise which made assembly easy, but the pictures were very dark. Overall a very good experience. 

First, I attempted to Super-Glue the teflon wheel back on, which did not work. Then the wheel on the right side broke off too. (A bad design I think). I found the Adjuster repair kit at AppliancePartsPros.com. I was glad that one kit repaired both sides! Reading the reviews gave me confidence that this repair was something I could do. The kit arrived in just two days. Instructions were brief, I took my time to read and understand them before I started. Took about an hour. Also, a bonus, as the kit seems to be a better design then the original! I would recommend the Adjuster kit to anyone. Nashville. 

Remove all hardware and snap back into place. Took me 15 minutes to do both sides. 

The replacement kit is a far superior design made with metal instead of plastic and a better mechanism for raising and lowering the rack. The wheels are held on much better than the weak pressure clips on the original part. I’m very happy with the part and it was easy to install. 

I ordered the appropriate replacement kit from AppliancePartsPros. I read thru the Q&A and confirmed the correct recommended part number. The kit arrived quickly even without expedited shipping - thank you. The photos in the instructions were a good idea but quite small and not very clear. They could have included some dis-assembly help. I did one side at a time to leave one in place for reference. Assembly was simple once you interpret the photos. However, the new wheels/rollers were too big to fit the slide bars in the dishwasher. Fortunately I saved the original wheels and was able to fit them to the new adjusters. No mention of this in the instructions. 

After researching on YouTube I found out about this repair kit to fix the problem of my top rack of my dishwasher . Obviously this is a common problem and I've had nothing but trouble out of it since I got it. I ordered the repair kit recommended on the video. I received it in just a couple of days. The original pieces were plastic and the repair kit pieces were metal. I opened the box to find no instructions at all just loose pieces. Luckily I was warned by the person that made one of the YouTube videos this would happen. So I followed along step by step with the video and had it all replaced in less than an hour. I can not tell you how happy I am with the result. My top rack glides in and out so smoothly, thank you for guiding me along the way. 

Upgraded replacement parts from Appliance Parts Pros, Parts were correct and very timely delivery. Dishwasher was back in operation an hour after parts arrived.
