How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP5957560 / W10712395 Upper Dishwasher Dishrack Adjuster Kit

I couldn't tell which part I was seeing online was the one I wanted so phoned in. The APP rep was extremely courteous and helpful. The part arrived in a couple of days. The pictures on the directions were hard to make out but I was able to figure it out in the end. There was one part missing from the box that arrived so I phoned in the next day and a new assembly was sent ASAP. This isn't my first purchase with APP and won't be the last. Great people to do business with! 

Replaced the upper-rack adjuster/roller assemblies with the new parts which are vastly superior to the original since the weight of the rack is supported by metal brackets instead of skinny plastic pins. The parts came quickly (next day) but there were no instructions. The video on this website is useful, but it starts with removing the newer design parts, not what we had. I found printed instructions on another web site. The other instructions followed a different (more difficult) sequence of assembly, but they included some details about the placement on the rack that was helpful. Videos are nice, but printed instructions plus a video would be even better. One other note, removing the rack from the dishwasher requires removing the end stops on the roller tracks. That's tricky, and the instructions for that were found in the owners manual "Press on the edge of the ridged area on the track stop while tipping the track stop toward the center of the dishwasher. This action releases a small retaining tab that locks the track stop to the track (see Track stop - left). NOTE: It is helpful to use 2 hands. Take special note of the orientation of the track stops." 

I was repairing my daughter's WDT730pahz0 Whirlpool dishwasher. The bottom dish rack set of wheels was very easy to install. The replacements for the upper set of wheels is different than the originals. In my opinion, the replacements are far superior to the original parts. The problem, as many have pointed out, is that there are no instructions on how to install the new parts. I worked for 15 minutes, attempting to put the pieces together and then install them on the dishrack. That was a mistake. The correct way to install is to first attach the metal section, (that includes the wheels), to the dishrack with two of the four small clips. Once that happens, the remaining adjuster pieces can be attached in a few minutes. Once you know the correct order of procedures, the whole replacement of both wheel sets will take no more than 5-8 minutes to complete. Using the top rack adjuster kit supplied by Appliance Parts Pros, I found this was not an exact copy of my original part, no instructions included, no worries here. The replacement appeared to be a more durable part, I proceeded to unpack the parts kit. Lay out all like parts in an order, count each and separate into two equal groups for left and right. Now to the top rack, removed the old parts from one side only. The two groups of new parts are identical and symmetrical so that they can fit either side with no difference. When assembling the first side, I could test fit the first group to see which part should fit where. Then, using the existing original side roller assembly for a guide, I could the fit new side in the correct place and order. Fitting the second side roller assembly is just a repeat of the first. This design is a real time saver and makes the job really easy. 

Ordered the parts and followed the instruction videos that Sears provide, Initially tried to order parts from Sears directly but the web-page kept complaining about my shipping address. Their loss- no wonder they're going out of business. Also, should note that the original assembly was plastic but the replacement was metal. Sure sign of a crappy cost-cutting decision. Overall, very happy with Appliance Parts Pros! 

Ordered new parts, the replacement parts are so much better than what comes on dishwasher.

The replacement part kit included two complete adjusters, which seem sturdier (metal) than the original plastic ones. There were no instructions included in the package and online pictures were not very clear, so it took about 1/2 hour to replace. 

I actually went on YouTube and found a tutorial by AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched it a few times and said I think I can do it myself so I follow the instructions in the video and ordered the part I needed. I was astonished to have it delivered the following day to my door. I reopen the YouTube tutorial and did everything step-by-step. It was a piece of cake. ! My husband and kids were so impressed that I fixed it on my own! If it were not for that tutorial, and the gentleman instructing, I don’t think I would’ve purchased it, and I wouldn’t have done it myself. I purchased my dishwasher from a local supplier who told me I would have to replace the whole machine. If it were not for that tutorial, and the gentleman instructing, I don’t think I would’ve purchased the parts and I wouldn’t have done it myself. My husband was convinced we needed to buy a new machine, but lucky for me it cost me under $60 to fix. So thank you so much you’ll be my go to whenever I have to repair an appliance
