How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP3885081 / 8201786 Compressor Starting Device Kit

Watched you tube video, ordered parts suggested on video, replaced parts, refrigerator works!!! 

Replaced the relay on the compressor. Easy to get at and easy to replace. Ordered the part Thursday, came Saturday morning. This was to repair a Kenmore refrigerator. I ordered the same part from Sears Parts Direct. Never again will I order a part from them. Waited over a week to be told the part was on back order. Waited another couple days, still on back order. Canceled the order and placed the order with Appliance Parts Pros. 

After many phone calls, ordered starting kit to get part I needed. Disappointed that couldn't get the one part out of kit that I needed. Instead, I have a box of parts I don't need. But it seems to be working now. Thanks! 

I ordered the starter kit and a capacitor from Appliancepartspros. The kit had starters for three applications. Mine was the 90amp. It was easy. Just remove the back cover. Unclip the starter and replace both items. It works great again. Make sure you clean the coils. Mine was dirty. It took longer because I cleaned the coils. 

APP made finding my part very easy. Once again, I got quoted a ten day delivery and received my part in 4 days. Life saver. APP's videos are a blessing in disguise. Watching this helped me do the job correctly the first time. 

Replaced compressor starting relay. 

Replaced compressor starter relay/overload component. Heard a clicking noise every couple of minutes. Found that the clicking was coming from the compressor starter. 

I did a little research with AppliancePartsPros & YouTube. I removed the starter relay and it had stuff rattling around inside with chunks falling out. Not good! So I purchased the relay kit that matched my model, it came in two days, I popped it back in my fridge and it's working like a million bucks! I checked the amps and it was at 1.2 ...Perfect! SO EASY, AND SO HAPPY TO SAVE A BUNDLE BY NOT HAVING TO CALL A REPAIRMAN! Thank you AppliancePartsPros! P.S. I didn't have to replace the capacitor, it was fine. 

Slid overload and relay from the kit onto compressor pins, replaced the wires, replaced the cover, and it's running.
