How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6024122 / WPY04000066 Bake Element Kit

Replaced heating element 

Turned off breaker, disconnected the wires on element, connected new element, secured with screws, turned on breaker! That’s it. 

Replaced the lower heating element. SO easy!!! We timed it, 5 minutes, 58 seconds! 

Ordered a new bake element. 

I ordered a new element which arrived in 2 days! I took out the 2 screws holding in the old element, removed the 2 wires that were connected with push clips and placed the new element in. The whole process including removal and installation took maybe 5 minutes. **Tip. To access the screws and wires more easily, remove the entire door from the oven. Most models will allow the door to simply slide off of the hinge without removing any hardware. This frees up space so you don't have to lean over the door to get to the back of the oven where the wires and screws are located. 

I ordered a new element from AppliancePartsPros.com and received it in three days. The heating element was an exact replacement and plugged right into existing wiring harness. 

1) unscrewed the 2 screws that attach the bake element's back plate to the back wall of the oven. 2) pulled the bake element away from the back wall. 3) removed the 2 wire clips with attached wires away from the old bake element prongs 4) then removed the old bake element from the oven 5) attached the wires with screw clips onto the new bake element back plate 6) installed the new bake element back into the same position as the old one. 7) and screwed the bake element's attached plate onto the back wall 

Ordered new element from APP. It came in 2 days and in perfect condition, and was less expensive than any other sources! To fix the oven: Shut off power to oven, removed racks from oven, removed 2 screws connecting old element and pulled element forward to expose wires. A flashlight was definitely handy to see screws & connections. Disconnected the wires using needle-nosed pliers, discarded broken element. Connected new element to wires, screwed element back into place. turned power back on and tested that oven was heating. So easy! The whole process took less than 15 minutes! 

Ordered a new element and it arrived the following day. I had to change the wire going to the new element. Took about 15 minutes and it works just fine now. 

Replaced the bake element.
