How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6013694 / WP9704230 Blender Drive Coupler

Called the manufacturer who told me the part wasn't available and wanted to sell me a new blender at a reduced price. Contacted Appliance Parts Pros. com and got the part on the way right away. Part arrived a few days later and it was very simple to install. Used my blender that night to make fruit smoothies. 

This was a very easy fix. Just like the video illustrated and the instructions which came with the part indicated. Smart design by KitchenAid. The coupling fails rather than some other part that is more expensive and difficult to replace, such as a motor shaft. The part is a soft aluminum hub with a rubber drive coupler. Just use a screwdriver to pry the coupler off. The aluminum will pull free from the steel shaft with not damage to the shaft. Then thread on the new part and you are done. Couple cautions. When the aluminum hub comes free, it will leave aluminum shaving on the shaft and in the steel threads. Clean these out carefully, I used a small wire brush and a sharp pick to remove them. Also, the housing for the blender is plastic. When you pry against it with the screwdriver, the shank of the screwdriver will mark up and dent the soft plastic. Cover the plastic with a layer of masking tape and wrap the shank of the screwdriver with tape. This is minimize and potential damage. Overall, a very quick, easy repair.

I went on-line, watched a repair video posted by Appliance Parts Pros, then ordered the part. When it came in, I followed the simple steps to fix it in like two minutes. I bet a lot of people would have thrown out this $100 blender over a $10 fix - what a shame! I'm glad I found the video and the part. Thank you. 

I got a new rubber connector. I removed the old connector from the motor shaft by easily prying it off with a screwdriver and several levering pushes. The new connector screwed on easily. It took all of two minutes to do. Thanks. 

My Honey came over to watch it on your web page and then fixed it. 

Video on web sit showed how to remove (l/h thread). Followed the instruction with hammer & screwdriver, a piece of cake.

I ordered this coupler, removed the old one what the material was crumbling and falling apart, installed the new coupler and BAM! Restored blender!
