How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6020609 / WPW10374126 Motor Control Board

Replaced the motor control unit. Original unit had burn marks on the board Like others on here, had the error codes flash on the display, the door was locked, and machine ceased to function. Tried resetting by unplugging, but same errors eould come up. Door eventually unlocked to get my clothes out. Researched online and found this website. Decided to follow the directions on taking the part out to see if that was truly my problem and sure enough there were scorch marks on the motor board. Thought it was worth a shot to replace and see if it would work after replacing. The return policy made it a no brainer. Nothing to lose! So glad it's fixed! Video made it easy. Hard part was moving the heavy appliance, but my son helped me with that. Part arrived quickly so wasn't out of a washer for long. 

Replaced Motor Control Board. Note that you may return this part for a core refund of 60 dollars. 

Machine stopped three of four cycles after replacing the bellows for a leak. Thought I may have pulled some wires from the user interface to the control unit loose. Checked that - no problems. Figured it was the Control Unit - so I ordered one from Appliance Parts Pros. The old one was a bit tricky to remove, and I finally took off the bracket behind the user interface panel to push it aft to free it. Wasn't the problem so I returned the new CCU to Appliance Parts Pros and ordered the Motor Control Board. Thanks for allowing the return, Appliance Parts Pros. Installed the new Motor Control Board and machine started right up. Fix took 15 minutes, troubleshooting a month. 

After pulling the lid off my Maytag Maxima washer and getting the technician manual that was attached to the inside of the lid, I traced the code to the motor control unit. After searching for it using the model number on the plate on the front of my washer, I found the part on the website, bought it for $280 and got it a few days later. I needed to pull the back cover off (it's near the floor in the back), replace 3 connectors, and slide the new one into place. I had repair places refuse to even come look at it because "they don't touch front load washers" so I thought it would be incredibly hard to fix. Instead it was incredibly easy. The videos and information on this website gave me the confidence that I could handle this repair. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros! 

Replaced the MCU! 

I had this error code pop up like others here. Replaced Motor Control Board and everything works like new! Thanks!! My washer is the Whirlpool WFW95HEXL2. The videos show taking off a front bottom panel to get to the motor control board. I took off the entire front panel, as mine did not have the lower access panel as the older models did. However, I could not access the connectors to get the MCB out. So, to get the MCB out of a unit with a one piece front panel, you actually have to go through the rear of the machine. Just take off all the screws and the back panel comes off. The MCB will be on the left side. Push down on the right front foot tab and slide the MCB forward to pop it out of the track. Take out the connectors (take a picture before doing this so you can put the connectors back in the right spot) and pop in the new MCB. Enjoy your washer again! 

Check to make sure door lock is working properly. Then check Motor Control Board on bottom left. White box, drain hose routes through the top. Take board out of box and look for burned out components. I found the drain hose blocked from lint, which may have caused this failure. Recommend cleaning the black drain hose annually, or at least as often as you clean your dryer vent. Put new MLB in and it works perfectly. 

I replaced the Electronic Control Board and the Motor Control Board. 

Performed all the diagnostic tests shown in the Whirlpool manual on the underside of the washer lid. Checked continuity, resistance values, solenoid operations, switches, 120VAC, 5VDC, 12VDC, etc. All checked out as OK. I replaced the CCU and that did not fix the problem. Then replaced the MCU and that did it. Put back in the original CCU and everything still worked fine. 

After calling a repair service they diagnosed the problem and said I needed a the MCU replaced. It would cost $400 for them to do it. I found this site and ordered the MCU. It arrived in 3-4 days. After watching a You-tube video on how to do the repair, I was all set to start, BUT it turns out the 2 videos I found showed a version of the DUET where the MCU was in the FRONT and accessed via a lower access panel. My washer did have this access panel on the front. I eventually found a video that showed the repair from the BACK panel and was able to do the repair in about 30 minutes. Success!!!
