How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6019577 / WPW10325124 Stand Mixer Phase Control Board

My husband watched a video on YouTube and realized it might just be the two circuit boards (phase and control). He took the cover off the top, replaced the parts, and it's working again. That thing had sat in the garage for two years at least because we knew of my friend's experience and figured it was a lost cause to try getting it fixed. My husband was cleaning out the garage and decided to see whether there were any videos on YouTube about it before throwing it away. The hardest part of the repair was waiting for the parts to be delivered. Saved me a few hundred dollars!

I replaced the speed governor, speed control plate and phase control board as suggested by the videos which were a great help.

Followed YouTube's video and the repair went pretty easy, even for a shaky old guy. 

Order new speed control and Phase control and it work like new. 

I ordered a new Phase Control Board given my mixer issue. Amazingly, it arrived the next day. I watched the excellent repair video, but it said to put a little heat conductive paste on the back of Phase Control Board. I finally got a hold of some of that after a week, but it turns out it's optional according to another post I read. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. I wanted mine to last as long as possible. After replacing it, I put it to the test. Exact same issue. After some thought, close examination of the mechanism, and watching the video on replacing the speed control plate, I realized the culprit was the bottom adjustment screw that adjusts the high speeds. It's supposed to be approximately 9/32" out the back. Mine had inadvertently been screwed way too far in resulting in low speeds not working. Once I backed it out to roughly 9/32", Voila! It worked!

I dismantled the unit to the point I could brush and clean the armature. With help of the video I was able to replace the control board and adjust the speed. I want to thank you for the video assistance during my repair. I will highly recommend Appliance Parts Pros. to all of my contacts.
