How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6008107 / WP3363394 Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer Pump

When I checked the washer after the cycle was done, turned out the basket was about 3/4 full of wash water that didn't drain out. Upon taking the soaking wet clothes out of the washer and manually scooping out the water, decided to test underneath and check for any blockage in the hoses and/or pump. Opened up the washer, checked all drain hoses, no blockages. Culprit was the pump. Ordered a new pump from appliancepartspros.com, waited a few days, pump came in, installed the new pump, reconnected the hoses and put the cabinet back on. Tested and washer now pumping out the water as it should

Replaced pump... Just tilted machine back and propped up safely...popped 2 clips that held pump...removed 2 hoses which has spring clamps...slide it off and reversed procedure.

The cost of a new washer spurred me on to quickly repair this old girl. The videos I located did not show how to take this unit apart, but some were close enough to figure it out. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I followed the video to replace the dogs, although this one was different the video made it quite simple to do. I also replace the broken clip and water pump like the video indicated. On that, I had to carefully file the end of the motor shaft to remove enough rust to get the original shape of the shaft to fit snuggly. It took hours of careful fussing and filing to do this. When done, the machine powered up very nicely and once again operated normally. Thank you. 

Direct Drive Washer Pump replacement. And, for preventative care, replaced Direct Drive Motor Coupling. Everything worked like a charm. Even the most novice at repair can do this fix. 

Ordered new pump and two clips. Took about 15 minutes to install. Works like a new washer and it's only 32 years old. 

I replaced the washer pump, assuming that was the cause of the leak. The video showing how to replace the pump was very important. Without the EXCELLENT video, I doubt that I would have attempted to do the repair myself. The biggest problem that I had was aligning the large sheet metal washer body on the frame; when putting the washer back together. I'm very pleased and satisfied with the outcome. 

Replaced the pump with new and disassembled the suds saver valve, cleaned and inspected the valve, reassembled and ops checked the electrical function. Cleaned all hoses and traps. Washer works fine but the drain back problem still remains. As the suds saver valve is not available, I am going to bypass it. Like the washer, while old, is in very good condition and suds saver units are no longer available. I wish I could still purchase a new diaphragm for the suds valve!!!
