How to Troubleshoot & Replace Whirlpool AP6007666 / WP3149400 Range Surface Element Switch

Replaced rheostat for that burner. 

You suggested changing the on/off switch. We purchased one from appliance parts pro at a reasonable price and presently the burner is working fine. We were told it was $85.00 just to have the local serviceman come. A.P.P. Saved us money and time. Thank you 

Ordered a new thermostat - finally got around to doing it this weekend, After throwing the breaker to the range, I pulled it out from its wedged in position in the line of base cabinets (that was about the worst part of the repair) removed the back panel, undid the front screws, removed old switch, replacing the wires as I removed them onto the new spades remounted the new switch and replaced the panel. Putting it back in place was a bit of a physics lesson about angles and resistance. Wife was happy and the games were coming on. 

I replaced the two 8 inch controls and the receptacles. 

I checked for voltage at the burner and then again at the temperature switch. No voltage at switch, ordered a new switch and it was a plug an play fix. Thanks I was considering replacing the stove. 

Replaced the burner control switch, which took all of 2 minutes , after I pulled the stove out , disconnected the breaker and removed the necessary screws to open the front psnel.

I called Appliance Parts Pros help number and spoke with a rep. She was very professional and helpful and in no time had figured out the problem. We ordered the part and it came in the mail within 2 days. The directions were clear and my husband had no problem fixing the "surface unit switch". We wee very happy with the total experience.
