This is a wheeled string trimmer belt compatible with many brands. The belt's purpose is to drive the unit, transferring power from the engine to the cutting head. Over time, belts are subject to wear and tear, heat, and humidity. This can make the belt brittle and eventually it will snap. In other instances, belts will stretch after being used for long periods and need to be replaced. Replacing the belt is a simple process. Start with the engine off and the spark plug disconnected. Remove the screw holding the chassis cover in place and then the screws holding the debris shield. With the debris shield out of the way, the belt should be clearly visible. Remove the engine pulley, but make sure to note the pulley's position for replacement. Install the new belt and reassemble the trimmer. This is a shoulder screw that is used to secure the handles of yard equipment. Typically, this screw is used with a matching wing nut, which is sold separately. Many different varieties of push lawn mowers have handles that fold downward for ease of storage. This is one of the locations on a mower where one will find shoulder bolts and the point at which these bolts are most likely wear out. While they are made of durable machined metal, shoulder bolts receive a great deal of wear, particularly from the handles being raised and lowered each time the mower is used. When pushing down on the mower to clear wet grass clippings or to make sharp turns with the mower, the entire weight of the mower is put on the two shoulder screws where they intersect. Since the metal of the handles can turn at that juncture, extra shearing action is put on the shoulder bolts, which can wear out. It is actually advantageous that the bolts wear out since otherwise, the handles themselves would warp and break apart. This lock washer is used frequently for a number of applications on power yard equipment. The size, 5/16, is the default for many small engine housing and manifold applications. Lock washers are used with machined bolts to fasten engine blocks to the housing of the equipment being used. The compressed washer is able to handle the constant vibration of the small gasoline engine without losing the seal between the screw or bolt and the housing. Typically these lock washers only need to be replaced when they are misplaced during repairs or when the screws that attach them have to be chiseled or cut away, meaning the washers are destroyed as well.
