Gibson Refrigerator Parts

My 10 year old frig door was hanging down to the point it wasnt fully closing and sealing unless you picked up on it. I ordered a lower hinge bracket, upper and lower bearing, and spacer. My bracket was bent down a little due to my kids hanging on the door when looking at the bottom shelf and i discovered my bracket was held on by only two bolts when there was supposed to be three. Initially I noticed the crusher drum was cracked and broken so I replaced the drum the retaining nut on the end of the auger and the circlip and washer. it worked fine for a time and then the drum began free wheeling. upon further inspection I discovered the retain nubs on the auger had worn down allowing the blade to slip down the auger body. so I replaced the auger, drum, drive blade, and drive cam. The smell was bad. Burnt wires but smelled like it could be a critter. Saw that the starter relay smoked after a cycle. Ordered the part.(sunday). Part recieved on Monday. Installed in less than ten minutes. Wife was happy. Also the website had a video of how to replace the part. Very satisfied?? Read more

I replaced defrost timer (which I am glad I did because of wear on the points) but that did not cure the problem. So after checking other components, I found that the temperature control was the culprit. No problem, I will simply order part # 2162521100. Well Frigidaire decided to obsolete that part and "Has not provided an approved substitute". So, I have to scrap this freezer and pay $800 to $900 for a new one? Not! Bought replacement part, exact fit. 2 screws out, 2 screws in EASY PEEZY. Hardest part was finding my 3/8 socket and waiting for the part which came way faster then expected. This is 2nd time APP saved me. Last time was for a 37 dollar relay that my appliance guy told me was my compressor. He told me to buy a new fridge because he wasn't going to replace the compressor. Removed the freezer shelves and back panel, evaporator coils were frozen with ice. Defrosted coil and removed defrost heater connectors, measured no continuity in the heater and ordered a replacement. Also discovered the aluminum retention strap was broken and the heater had slipped down in it's position, ordered and replacement strap. White Westinghouse refrigerator door was accidentally left open over night when it was humid, and moisture condensed on the interior. In the morning the arc fault circuit breaker was tripped. Tried letting the unit dry out, but it would still trip the breaker as an arc fault.
