• Do not force or hammer the knob onto the shaft; if it does not seat easily, verify spline alignment.
• If the control stem or switch is damaged, replace the stem/switch assembly rather than forcing a knob.

This is a small metal or plastic retainer clip that secures the main top panel of the dryer to the cabinet frame.
