The Felt Drum Seal is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This part creates a tight seal along the edge of the dryer drum, preventing hot air from escaping and ensuring efficient operation. The felt seal helps to minimize noise and vibration during the drying cycle by cushioning the space between the drum and the dryer body.
Over time, the felt drum seal can wear out, become compacted, or tear, leading to potential issues such as increased drying times, higher energy consumption, and excess noise.
Symptoms of a bad Felt Drum Seal include:
- Clothes taking longer to dry
- Unusual noises or increased vibration during operation
- A visible gap between the drum and the dryer body
- Excessive lint buildup inside the dryer beyond the lint trap
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Gas dryer did not heat and excessive lint inside the unit James C. • New Boston , MI • July 20, 2017
Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping. I can say AppliancePartsPros is MUCH cheaper for the identical Whirlpool genuine part. While changing the ignitor, I noticed there was an excessive amount of lint in the dryer, which was caused by worn drum seals. I ordered...

Squeak found to be coming from idler pulley roller which no longer turned freely . The four other cabinet rollers had signs of wear. Dryer belt had frayed edges and a couple of burn spots in the belt from the motor turning before the drum did. Cleaned up all shafts...

As a Mechanic, I did the common sense approach:
INITIAL OBSERVATIONS & CHECKS:
- Unplug Machine & check inlet water hose connections for leaks and signs of hose failure;
- Remove back panel & inspect for water presence at all hose connections, pump, bottom of basket (bottom center of basket where the main motor, shaft bearing, and tub seal is located), dispensers, bottom of wash basket, water injector area, look everywhere where there is a hose connection and where water flows...
- Inspect...

Fan wheel damaged Scott G. • Kissimmee , FL • January 19, 2018
Took the whole dryer apart to access the wheels (4) of them, belt and fan wheel, also had to clean all the lint out that somehow builds up inside the dryer. Plus cleaned out dryer duct vent, added to the time involved. If you are planning on fixing the dryer because of a noise which was in my case, I highly recommend buy all the parts for complete maintenance mentioned above. What helped save me time? I watch a dryer fan wheel replacement training video first, highly recommend this!...

Squeaking kenmore dryer that stopped working Paul M. • Norcross , GA • November 28, 2016
First I watched videos about squeaking Kenmore dryers. Then I used that information to open the dryer, diagnosing the fact that the roller on the drum belt tension arm had broken and actually fallen off the arm. The dryer was filled with lint and dust/dirt, so I also saw that the seals on the dryer had deteriorated greatly. AppliancePartsPros website is outstanding, far better than its competitors. This made it easy to find the parts and videos that I needed. It took hours to pull everything...
