Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Baking igniter burned out.   Christopher C. • Pittsboro , NC • December 19, 2020

On my Jenn-Air downdraft range, the oven stopped heating. The broiler still worked. So pulled the pan off the bottom so I could see and found the igniter wasn't glowing to start the gas. I had replaced the full electronic control panel using Appliance Parts Pros so knew they had the full breakdown of parts for my model. I found the igniter and ordered. But frankly, I wasn't sure about doing the repair myself. It looked easy enough from videos and discussions here. Still, dealing with the... Read more

Replaced the gas regulator and the oven igniter. It was not a very difficult repair.. most of the parts were easy to get to. The biggest challenge was disconnecting the gas hose from the regulator. It had "pipe dope" (sealant) on the threads. I reconnected with yellow gas pipe tape. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Intermitten mini explosions in the oven when trying to use   Jerry L. • Canton , GA • December 28, 2015

Troubleshot the oven by checking the broiler which worked good (same fuel valve). After reading the some tips about troubleshooting the Glow Ignitor I could see the broiler ignitor got white hot and the oven ignitor only got bright orange (orange to red causes intermittent ignition or mini explosions). Watched the how to video and it was good information. You should be observant about which openings in the back of the oven as to where the two wires are coming out of. My oven is over 12 years... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You A spark electrode was cracked; the ignition switches for some burners had failed; and rubber grate pads were destroyed or missing   Wayne K. • Redmond , WA • September 26, 2018

Of course, before disassembling anything, I unplugged and turned off the gas supply. To replace the spark electrode, I removed the drip pan/surface to gain access to the burner assemblies. Next, I unscrewed (with a 1/2" open-end wrench, I think) and disconnected the gas supply tubing from the burner assembly with the cracked electrode, and then unscrewed the assembly itself from the base surface. With the assembly detached, I flipped it over and removed the screw that secured the cracked... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Gas oven wouldn't heat up   Derek S. • Phoenix , AZ • March 01, 2015

Replaced the oven igniter, following the general instructions on the ApplicancePartsPro.com website. It took me a little while to figure out how to get to the wiring for the igniter, as I had no access panel on the back to get to the wires. In my particular Whirlpool oven (very old model) it turned out that you have to remove the pots/pans drawer under the oven to get to the exposed wiring at the back. Once I figured this out, the rest of the replacement was a snap. Read more
