This is a 60 Hz timer that controls the duration of drying cycles in a clothes dryer. It advances through each stage of the cycle and signals the motor and heating components to turn on or off at the appropriate times. Replace this timer if the dryer will not start, the cycle does not advance, the timer knob spins freely without clicking, or if the dryer runs continuously without shutting off.
