It was not looking good. I could not order the part I needed as it was part of the door - eve though it had screws att Hong it to the freezer door. At one web site it was a replacement of the whole freezer door!/? Luckily I ventured further and found this repair kit and video instructions. My order arrived in 3 days, and the install (thanks to the video) was easy. A whole lot better than buying a new freezer door - not! The ice dispenser chute door had not been sealing for years. The ice cubes on the lower portion of the ice bin would melt enough eventually to then freeze up into a big, amalgamated blob of ice due to ambient air coming up the chute. Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. Removed two screws on lower outside side of unit that held the foot pedal. Slid off black U shaped metal frame from top of compactor towards bottom. Slid on... Read more

Easy to remove the metal parts from the old bin. The only problem was that the screw that holds the adapter has red thread locker and screwdriver rounded off the head of the screw. Drilled the screw and heated the screw to loosen the thread locker and used an ease out to remove the screw. Read more

I had to remove a metal panel at the bottom back of the freezer as well as a couple of shelf slides in order to get at a drain pan in the back. It was frozen solid, so I stabbed at it with an ice pick until I broke through, followed up by poking a coat hanger in the drain hole to clear as much as I could, then poured a little boiling water over it to follow up. We actually were able to determine that one of the freezer switches was bad and taped it down for about 3 days. The beeping stopped. Our fridge has two freezer switches and one fridge side switch. I ordered all three from these guys. They were cheaper than Whirlpool by about $20 for parts and about $15 for shipping. After removing the evaporator cover inside the freezer, I noticed that the fan was having trouble starting without me touching it. I replaced the Evaporator fan motor. The new fan was much stronger and made more boys than the old dying motor. Read more
