This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one.

The Whirlpool refrigerator ice maker is a good design.
The 8 32 screw was a problem I could not remove it with the
thread lock it prevented me from unscrewing it. Therefore I replaced the shaft the splined hub and spacer washers.
It seems to work fine now.

Replaced entire ice maker. A couple of important points. (1) The ice maker module does not include all parts. The door flap for example is not included. So save all plastic parts from the old unit including screws.
The biggest installation problem was the power cable. There was little room on the side of the ice maker for the cable and connectors to fit. Make sure the connector that mates with the refrigerator cable is seated onto the plastic housing and does not stick out or dangle out....
