This Agitator Auger is the upper half of a dual-action washer agitator. It works with the agitator cam and dogs to create the screw-like motion that pulls clothes downward; replace if the top agitator slips, cracks, or stops turning.
- Forms the upper agitator that produces the ratcheting, spiral action for proper wash turnover
- Common symptoms include the upper agitator not moving, free-spinning or slipping under load, and visible cracks or stripped splines/fins
- Restores correct clothing movement and agitation performance when the upper section no longer drives
What's included: 1 agitator auger Install notes:
- Disconnect power and water before servicing
- Remove the fabric softener dispenser and inner cap, then unbolt and lift off the agitator to access the auger
- Transfer internal components (cam and agitator dogs) if reusing; inspect for wear during reassembly
- Align splines, seat the auger fully, tighten fasteners securely, and test the agitation function

Top agitator would not spin Daniel C. • Woodbine , MD • January 14, 2017
I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. Upon removing the top cap of the agitator and doing an inspection, the agitator dogs were completely broken into pieces. Due to age we decided to replace the lower and upper agitator along with the agitator auger dogs repair kit. All new parts and works fine. On inspection of old parts, we probably could have gotten away with just a $5 repair for the plastic...

This agitator drive shaft sits inside the washer's gearcase and transfers motion to the agitator. Replacing a worn or stripped shaft restores firm engagement and reliable wash action while helping reduce slip and grinding during agitation.
- Transfers oscillating motion from the transmission to the agitator
- Provides the splined interface that engages the agitator/coupler
- Common symptoms include no agitation, intermittent/slipping agitation, or grinding/clicking from the gearcase
- Visible wear, rounded splines, or a bent shaft can lead to a loose or non-moving agitator
What's included: 1 agitator drive shaft Install notes:
- Disconnect power and water; use proper PPE
- Requires removing the cabinet and gearcase; drain and reseal the gearcase per service procedures
- Keep gears, spacers, and clips in order; reassemble in the original orientation
- Inspect mating parts (agitator coupler/splines, drive block, seals) and replace if worn

Agitator was not turning Edward M. • Glen Allen , VA • March 10, 2019
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time.

Washer was "dead" with a partially washed load and would not do anything Jimmy M. • Hopewell , VA • September 19, 2014
Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!)
Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts...

This washer agitator is the central wash-motion component. It mounts to the drive hub and churns laundry through water and detergent, restoring proper turnover when the original agitator is cracked, stripped, or missing.
- Creates the back-and-forth wash action that moves clothes through the wash water
- Restores proper turnover and cleaning when the old agitator is damaged or worn
- Typical symptoms: no or weak agitation, clothes not moving, clicking/ratcheting from the agitator area, or a loose/wobbly agitator
- Visual issues may include cracks, stripped splines, or a unit that lifts off easily
What's included: 1 agitator Install notes:
- Disconnect power and shut off water before servicing; wear cut-resistant gloves
- Remove the softener dispenser and cap, then the center bolt/retainer; pull the old agitator straight up
- Align splines and seat the new agitator fully; reuse existing bolt and cap unless damaged

This is the central wash-action component in select top-load washers. Replacing a worn or damaged agitator restores proper agitation so clothes circulate through water and detergent for consistent cleaning performance. What it does:
- Converts drive motion into the back-and-forth action that moves laundry
- Circulates clothes to improve soil removal and reduce tangling
- Replaces cracked, stripped, or loose agitators that cause weak or no agitation
- Common symptoms include poor cleaning, clothes not moving during wash, or an agitator that wobbles or spins freely by hand
What's included:
Install notes:
- Disconnect power and turn off water supply before servicing
- Remove the fabric softener dispenser and inner cap to access the center bolt
- Remove the bolt, lift off the old agitator, seat the new agitator on the splined shaft, and secure the bolt
- Reinstall the cap/dispenser; reuse original hardware as applicable and check for a secure fit before testing

- Common symptoms: water leaking at the front, a loose or detached boot, or a broken/missing ring
Includes: 1 wire retaining ring Install notes:
- Unplug the washer and shut off water; wear gloves and eye protection—the ring is under spring tension
- Release the outer boot clamp and fold the boot inward to access the inner ring
- Seat the boot evenly on the tub rim, then expand and fit the ring into its groove; verify it's fully seated all the way around

The Screw is an OEM component compatible with Whirlpool washing machines. This screw secures the rear bulkhead to the tub, ensuring vibrations are reduced through solid mounting points. Properly installed screws dampen oscillating movement.
Causes of a bad screw include damage from water exposure like corrosion or breakage from stress concentrations if the tub bangs around during imbalanced loads.
Symptoms of a bad screw include:
- Loose or detached rear bulkhead allowing side-to-side play
- Excessive noise and shaking felt through the surrounding walls
- Development of micro-cracks around screw holes over time
- Potential leak paths if holes are no longer sealed
This Whirlpool replacement screw restores a stable suspension system. It is compatible with additional brands like Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Drain hose too short and home depot fix leaked Sara B. • Liberty Hill , TX • August 21, 2015
Ordered a new drain hose and extension part. The prices including shipping were more reasonable than driving back and forth to the store just to piece meal parts together. Very frustrating. I ordered the parts that were specific to our washing machine, it took maybe 5 minutes to install, and everything fit perfectly.
Now we're washing again and no leaks!
