Agitator won't move or slips during wash? A worn drive shaft causes weak agitation. This shaft transfers motion from the gearcase to restore firm engagement.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Agitator was not turning Edward M. • Glen Allen , VA • March 10, 2019
I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
Washer was "dead" with a partially washed load and would not do anything Jimmy M. • Hopewell , VA • September 19, 2014
Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!)
Ordered the lid switch and it was an easy repair. A $14.00 switch was a lot cheaper than a $450.00 washer. Thanks appliance parts...

The Screw is an OEM component compatible with Whirlpool washing machines. This screw secures the rear bulkhead to the tub, ensuring vibrations are reduced through solid mounting points. Properly installed screws dampen oscillating movement.
Causes of a bad screw include damage from water exposure like corrosion or breakage from stress concentrations if the tub bangs around during imbalanced loads.
Symptoms of a bad screw include:
- Loose or detached rear bulkhead allowing side-to-side play
- Excessive noise and shaking felt through the surrounding walls
- Development of micro-cracks around screw holes over time
- Potential leak paths if holes are no longer sealed
This Whirlpool replacement screw restores a stable suspension system. It is compatible with additional brands like Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Kenmore fh error code Michael H. • Cataula , GA • January 18, 2015
I had a problem with the drain pump on my Kenmore HE3 and I replaced it using a drain pump I ordered from APP. That fixed that problem but once I started running the washer I started getting a FH error code. I looked it up and found that it was a problem with the washer not filling properly. I pulled the washer out and found that one of the fill hoses had kinked when I pushed the washer back in place. There was also some writing on the hose that read "Change hose every five years". I know I had...

Shaking / very unbalanced during spin cycle Dale B. • Geneseo , IL • June 11, 2017
Watched your videos on repairing different parts of the washer such as, the tub, agitator, tub balance springs. The problem was found when I removed the agitator. The neck of the tub was almost totally rusted through. Had I had a spanner wrench it would have been a lot easier. Several sprays with GP Blaster penetrating oil helped loosen the nut but punch and hammer damaged the nut to where I didn't want to reuse it. Next problem was getting the basket drive block and tub loose from the gearbox...

No spin every thing else worked made high speed ticking noise Anthony D. • Follansbee , WV • May 12, 2015
First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in...
