After having replaced the drum support rollers twice in a roughly 3yr period, I realized something wasn't quite right, and indeed it wasn't. I had been ordering the wrong parts - I did use the online parts locator after checking, & double checking my model number. Apparently my older Whirlpool dryer has a somewhat ambiguous model number because the rollers that were shipped each time looked nothing like the originals. One day my wife went to bake something and the bake/broil buttons as well as #3, #9, and oven light ceased to work. Local repair guy came by and wanted to charge $500 to fix it....YEAH RIGHT! Did a little homework and found this website, spoke with knowledgable staff who pointed me in the right direction. I took it apart and cleaned and lubricated the rear support rollers and the belt pulley roller. I think the squealing was coming from the pulley roller. I then replaced the rear felt as it was badly deteriorated. The dryer now runs much more smoothly and quietly. Read more

I undid the top with a putty knife, took out two screws and took off the front. I replaced the drum rollers and put the new belt on the drum, looped the belt on the idler and then onto the motor pulley. I also put on two new top hold down clips as the old ones broke because they were plastic, the new ones were metal. I took off the back panel and replaced the heating element. I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair... Read more

Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open. I bought an ignitor at a local store as there was a national holiday the next day and I did not want the dryer inoperative waiting several days for shipping.
