The Control Unit is an OEM replacement part for Bosch dishwashers. It serves as the central brain and command center, responsible for controlling and regulating all the functions and operations of the dishwasher. This component receives inputs from various sensors and user settings, and sends signals to control the water intake, heating elements, wash cycles, and other systems accordingly.

Causes of a bad control unit can include electrical malfunctions, power surges, physical damage from moisture or impact, or general wear and tear over time. A faulty control unit can lead to a wide range of issues, affecting the overall performance and functionality of the dishwasher.

Symptoms of a bad control unit include:

  • Dishwasher not starting or responding to user inputs
  • Error codes or warning lights displayed on the control panel
  • Specific cycles or features not functioning correctly
  • Erratic or unpredictable behavior during wash cycles

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore dishwasher models.

Eric for Model Number she43rl6uc

My she43rl6uc is not heating up the water, dishes aren't getting clean, and E1 is displayed on the error check program. The troubleshooting guide for she43rl6uc says at 77 degrees the resistance on the NTC unit should be 458409 ohms. The 6.2 and 6.4 orange wires (which connect directly to the NTC) read 46k ohms. I purchased a replacement, and that NTC unit it's also reading 46k ohms. I calibrated my multimeter against some resistors of known resistance, and it appears to be working properly. Does the guide have a typo and it should be about 46k ohms or did I get two NTCs that both are broken the same way?

1 Answer

Eric, It appears that the guide would have a typo and the 46K ohms of resistance would be accurate.

Virginia Country Man for Model Number SHX55R52UC/64

I may have a few separate issues or it may be one item that is manifesting itself as several symptoms. My DW is not draining. I don't know how many gallons one wash cycle uses but at the end of a cycle I am able to bail out 1.5 gallons of water from the bottom. If I don't do this between loads then the water floods out onto the floor through the door seal. The wash cycle also appears to be taking considerably longer than normal. The digital display on the control panel that is on the top edge of the door goes blank once I push the door shut. The red LED light still comes on and shines on the floor but the cycle countdown disappears. I am not sure if it is supposed to or not. Here is what I have tried so far (thanks to YouTube) I cleaned out the filters and all of the drain tubes and I have replaced the check valve and the drain pump. Any advice you have would be appreciated.

1 Answer

Virginia, Based on the information, this will most likely be caused by a faulty control unit. Since the draining issue is not being caused by a drain pump, as this has been replaced. and with other issues the unit is having to replace the control unit should correct all issues.

Alexey for Model Number she43Rl5uc

My Bosch SHE43RL5UC dishwasher was running too long, not dissolving the tablet fully, and the dishes were clean. Looked like a heater problem so I replaced the entire heater assembly. That didn't help much. The tablet was now getting dissolved but it still ran too long and looked like it was restarting cycles. Did the diagnostics on it and it showed E1. Since heater assembly is brand new, I figured it must be a control board. Purchased a control board from you guys, popped it in yesterday, restarted, E1 went away at first. Ran a normal cycle. That took four hours instead of 110 min as supposed. Dishes were still a bit dirty and the E1 is now back. Any ideas? This is now becoming a personal mission to beat my dishwasher into submission :). All I can think now is the water intake valve. I added some water before running it this morning and testing it now. Thanks P.S. Interestingly enough, normal cycle yesterday was 110 min. Today when I started, it was about 155 and a half load was longer than normal yesterday. I think it's possessed.

Ian, You'll need to check the door switch(s) circuits and wiring (a voltage check would probably be the best option, but you'll need to be careful) You'll also want to check for voltage between the door switch and the control unit/board.

Rod

My Bosch dishwasher SHE55R55UC continues to run and does not stop at the scheduled time. This has gone on for several days. It does not get to the drain cycle point on its own. The water remaining in the bottom of the washer is soapy. By pressing the two reset buttons (heavy and normal) the timer goes to zero. Closing the door starts the drain cycle and it drains within one minute. There are still soap bubbles remaining. I added some cups of water to dilute the bubbles and repeated making it drain by pressing the reset buttons. I think the machine had not gone through the rinse cycle leaving a lot of soap bubbles. We use "Finish" soap tabs and "Finish" rinse agent. After making it drain we are running a normal cycle of 120 minutes with no soap tab, trying to get the washed dishes rinsed. It seems to be running through its cycles and draining after about 15 minutes, and refilling. Looking inside partially through this cycle the water in the tub is very soapy...but none had been added. Could the bubbles be coming from the rinse agent? It hasn't completed its cycle, and has 90 min. left. There seems to be more soap bubbles than when we were using the soap tab! Help!

1 Answer

Rod, it is possible that the suds you are seeing is soap residue withing the dishwasher itself which can increase the run time of a dishwasher. You may want to run a cleaning cycle while using Affresh [w10282479].
