The Rinse Aid Door (with Gasket) is an OEM replacement part for Bosch dishwashers. It is responsible for covering and sealing the rinse aid dispenser. Problems with a rinse aid door can cause leaks during washing.

Causes of issues may include wear over time, damage to the door or integrated gasket. This can compromise the seal needed to contain rinse aid.

Symptoms of a problem rinse aid door:

  • Observing liquid around the dispenser area
  • Water spots after a cycle
  • A loose or damaged gasket allows contents to leak underneath.

This genuine Bosch OEM replacement part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models

For Bosch Rinse Aid Door (With Gasket) (Part Number: OEM8407014)

Art for Model Number SHPM98W75N/01

Purchased October 2017. Foam at end of cycle. I haven’t put any rinse aid in in over 30 cycles and control panel says add rinse aid. Use Seventh Generation detergent powder. Foam at end of cycle even if no wash detergent is used. Rinse dispenser door seals seem tight. Hot water injected into the rinse aid dispenser fill bowl produces lots of suds. Seems there must be a big residue built up in the tank. How can I clean the tank, or is something else wrong?

Hunter for Model Number SHPM78Z54n

Hello. We just bought brand new dishwasher Bosch 800. We loaded dishwasher, added detergent and started to add rinse aid in rinse dispenser, but instead of getting inside it started to leak out from the base on door surface and actually quite a lot. We tried one more time, but with the same result. Just a little inside and a lot of outside. This is brand new machine, which we got 3 days ago. Do we need some adjustment or need to call for service.? Thanks

Hunter, This issue sounds like a damaged dispenser and you would want to have a servicer if it is under warranty.

Howard for Model Number SHP865WF5N/11

Rinse-aid dispenser leaked out the bottom from day one. Just had the dispenser unit (item #12008380) replaced by Bosch-recommended local repairer. Not only does the new one leak just like the old one (showed tech before he left; he said "Call Bosch then let me know what they say." After he left, tried running a load ... NOTHING works!!! Will call tech again tomorrow AM - but for now am EXTREMELY disappointed in Bosch support for their product. Any advice????

Howard, it would be recommended that the unit is inspected for any loose wires, including the power cord in the back if the dishwasher was moved out from where it is installed. In regards to the new detergent dispenser 12008380, if the leak is coming from where the rinse aid door closes it would be likely that the gasket is not seating properly which can be caused by the door not locking in fully. The rinse aid door would need to be checked for proper alignment and that the gasket is set in proper alignment where it can seal in place.

Michelle, in regards to the rinse aid compartment, it sounds like the rinse aid solenoid is leaking by and the dispenser assembly 00490467 would need to be replaced. In regards to the rhythmic knocking, if the spray arms have the proper clearance, the failure could potentially be in the circulation motor 00442548 if the noise is occurring during the entire cycle.

SM, the rinse aid door should not open at the end of the cycle. The only time the door should open is going to be when it is opened to refill the rinse aid. It is possible that the door is catching on an item or is not locking in place securely and it would need to be inspected for a secure latch.

Jeff, Based on the information provided and the fact you have replaced the dispenser assembly you may have a bad control that is sending power to the dispenser all the time causing it to empty out. I would check for power to the dispenser from the board.

Roger for Model Number SHX68T55UC

I purchased a Bosch dishwasher in April 2016. Model # SHX68T55UC. When I add Rinse Aid, the liquid runs straight through so I changed the usage to 0 to get rid of the message "Add Rinse Aid". From what I understand the Rinse Aid unit can be removed and cleaned with white vinegar. Does that sound like an option I should try? Last resort what is the model number to replace the one I have? Do you have a procedure to show the necessary steps to remove the dispenser? Does the soap dispenser come out with the Rinse Aid dispenser? I can't look at it now because the dishwasher is running.

1 Answer

Roger, the rinse aid dispenser is going to be a part of the detergent dispenser and can not be removed independently. Vinegar can be used to try to clean the rinse aid dispenser and then rinsed thoroughly using water, however, it would be likely that the detergent dispenser would need to be replaced. The full model number would be necessary to ensure the compatible dispenser is identified.

Hello Lisa, without a model number to go by, we can just give some basic checks. The detergent used should be able to remove a film on the dish surface. However you would want to check the incoming water is at least 120 deg, the dishwasher's heater is working, the spray arms are turning, and it is draining correctly. Lastly, you should use a dishwasher cleaner such as Affresh to remove any deposits in the tub interior.
