Kevin November 17, 2015 for Model Number 79095032503 If the control panel is bad would the clock still work?
Fred May 30, 2015 for Model Number 79095034503 The plastic pieces around the screws that hold the circuit board to the stove have broken. The circuit board still works. Is there a replacement plastic case or is the only way to fix it with purchasing a whole new circuit board. Thanks!
1 Answer Fred, Unfortunately there is no plastic case that can be replaced and the only way to fix is to purchase the entire control board. Read More...
Tony April 30, 2014 for Model Number 79092204014 My Kenmore stove model number 790.92204014 would not bake, but would broil. I check out the control board and the bake terminal on the board was black and burned out. I replaced the board and 3 months later, the same thing has happened. What could be causing the problem?
1 Answer Hello Tony, You need to chase the wiring harness and make sure there are no shorts to ground. If none are located, you should verify 240Vac to the unit. If there are no shorts and the proper voltage is supplied from the breaker box, verify the correct element 316407501 has been installed in the unit. If it is correct also, the control 316557118 has to have been the cause of the issue. Read More...
Alex January 26, 2014 for Model Number 79095042503 Some time ago a heard a pop followed by the smell of smoke from the back of the unit. Apparently there was some sort of short and my electronic oven control/clock-timer (part# 316455420) died. There was some black burn spots just beneath the black box above P4 and P5. I ordered a replacement timer from Sears and wired it back in exactly the way the last one was wired (Blue=P2, Blk=P1, Y=P4, R=P5, O=P6). Nothing. The thing is dead and doesn’t light up. I even tried to keep my finger down on the “clock” button and later on the “timer” button to see if it would trigger some sort of reset. Nothing. The P1 and P5 terminals on the part are receiving 110v but nothing lights up. So the new “new” part came it, I connected it, and again nothing. So yeah, it’s not the clock-timer but I have no idea what it is. Please help.
1 Answer Hello Alex, Before tearing into the appliance you should check at the terminal block for 240Vac from black to red. If it is not there, the issue is in the power being supplied to the unit. Check for issues in the breaker box or the junction box before the power ever gets to the unit. You will need to make sure you are getting L1 and L2 to the board. You will then need to make sure the bake and broil terminals are both passing the 120Vac to the elements. Be aware that on most units L2 will be floating on the elements at all times. For this reason it will be necessary to disconnect the connector on the bake and broil terminals on the clock to check for the voltage. The unit will have to be set to bake to get a proper reading at the bake terminal and the unit will have to be on broil for a proper reading on the broil terminal. If the voltage is not there, you will need to back up and check the elements and the terminal block for proper connections. Read More...

Ryan September 29, 2012 for Model Number 790.95039700 I have a Kenmore Electric range that is 5-6 years old, the bake or broil does not heat up, it sounds like the relays are cliking when I turn the oven on, but the elements are not heating up. The stovetop works fine, but the oven does not and it is not throwing any codes. I have checked to ensure that I have 240 volts going into the control board, but I do not get 240 volts coming out of the leads going down to the heating elements for the oven. I only get 120 volts going to ground off each lead, when I go across both leads, I get nothing. Also I have taken the heating elements out and checked for continuity and that is good. I assume the control board is bad, but before I purhased a $100 part for a $350 unit I wanted to make sure that was the part that needs replaced. Any help would be appreciated.
1 Answer Hello Ryan. Based on the test and information you provided, it is going to need the clock 316455420 replaced in the unit. Read More...
Gary A. S. August 04, 2012 for Model Number 790.95032503 My son just purchased a home, Kenmore range Model #790.95032503 was included. Problem is electronic control head not working properly and none of the burners on top of oven and broiler elements work either. If voltage at wall receptacle is correct will new control head solve all the problems. Thank you for all your help in the past as well as the future. Gary
1 Answer Hello Gary, There is something fishy about this. You see, all of the wiring for the surface is completely independent of all of the wiring for the bake compartment. If neither are working, this means you will start at the terminal block, (where the power cord is attached to the unit), and work your way back through the receptacle and breaker box. The wiring separates at the terminal block and goes in their respective directions. If the bake compartment fails and the surface still works, the direction for troubleshooting is cut and dry, (and vice versa). So, it seems like your issue will be a simple one to locate. Be sure to inspect the spades on the power cord for burned spots. If you find any, the receptacle will require replacement and the burned spots have to be sanded off to prevent burning up a new receptacle. Let us know if we can assist you further. Read More...
Mike June 25, 2012 for Model Number 79040459802 Code f13 and dr appearing on control panel. Does the entire EOC need to be replaced, or do you just replace the clock timer? Thank You.
1 Answer Hi Mike. F13 code is a shorted keypad/ clock assy. Part # 318414207. DR code is the door switch part # 316445501 not opening /closing well or a wire connection not tight and needs correction. You can use a putty knife and pop it out from the front carefully. Check the oven sensor part # 316217002 at the back after unplugging the device. It needs to be within 10% of 1800-1100 ohms cold. Rotate the wires so if there is a open (or short) it will show up. Thank You. Read More...
