Eduard for Model Number 253.28092805 This is a Kenmore Elite which suddenly lost the ability to maintain freezer temps. Control panel read -F- and none of the buttons would work. (Of course everything thawed before I learned this was an issue.) Upon unplugging the freezer and restarting, the unit appeared to work, but it runs constantly. Had Sears repair come out and quoted me a price of $396 to effect control panel replacement. My question, if I am fairly handy with my hands, is this something your typical homeowner can accomplish? Answer Eduard, The control on this unit is part number 241988078. The control board is easily replaced with no tutorials needed. You would simply use a flat blade to get up under the control and pop the control board out. Then just push the new one onto the unit and plug the unit up. Read More...
