The Defrost Timer is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire upright freezers. It serves as a crucial component responsible for regulating automatic defrost cycles.

Causes of a faulty defrost timer relate to 20,000+ hours of constant exposure to freezer temperatures as low as -10 degrees Fahrenheit. Such extremes can compromise electrical switching mechanisms over prolonged usage periods.

Symptoms of a failed defrost timer include:

  • Inability to initiate automatic defrost modes
  • Excessive ice and frost accumulation inside cabinet
  • Warm areas detected due to impaired fan circulation
  • Diagnostic codes indicating defrosting problems

This genuine Frigidaire replacement part is compatible with Kelvinator and some Kenmore units as well.

Albert, The thermostat would be the most likely cause for this issue and you will want to make sure that the thermostat probe is in place properly. You will also want to make sure that you got the correct OEM thermostat which will be part number 216788000.

Jon, If you look at the heating element, there should be a wattage stamped on it. You will then divide that number into 14400 and whatever the number is will tell you what resistance the defrost heater should be. Continuity is a test that can be done but if you are getting a resistance then it has continuity.

Boike, I would check the refrigerator for what all is running, compressor, evaporator fan, condenser fan, etc... Then check to see if there is a frost build-up on the evaporator?

Frank for Model Number LFFH2067DH2

Noticed water in front of unit; food beginning to thaw. Unloaded and moved to another freezer. Monitored Unit. It would cool down just fine(-20+ at highest setting) and then temp would rise to 25 -30 deg trouble alarm/light would come on and then some time later go off after unit cooled back down; some water dripping from bottom of door during time trouble light is lit. Purchased from you and installed defrost thermostat No difference after replacing the thermotat; unit cooling and cycling as above for several days and then stopped cooling/ fan is running. Purchased from you and installed defrost timer. plugged in and fan runs and no cooling as before but compressor not running; laying down close to rear of the unit I can hear a periodic click ; buzz(compressor trying to start?) What next? Haul it to there dump?

Frank, based on the information provided, it sounds like the defrost drain port is clogged up and causing the evaporator to restrict air flow. It would be recommended that the back cover is removed and the defrost drain inspected for ice build up under the evaporator. If there is ice, it would need to be cleared all the way through the drain hose to the pan on the compressor.

Frank, there would not be any special installation instructions for the defrost timer 5304518034 as this is a plug and play part. One possibility that can occur with any defrost timer is that it is in the defrost cycle from when the manufacturer tests it. If the unit does not start cooling once the defrost timer is installed, rotate the round port on the timer until it clicks. This should cause the refrigerator to start operating.

John, Based on the information provided the old-timer while still installed can be placed into defrost and see if it cycles out and no the new one does not have to be set, it will operate from the position it is installed in.

Hello Steve. Next time when the unit wont run at all (except of the light) get to the back and locate the defrost timer bottom left p/n AP6799886. I want you to slowly turn the knob in the center (use a screwdriver) CW until you'll hear the click and another one, if you keep turning. If the unit kicks on, replace the timer. Thank you.

Todd, Yes this should be fine, sometimes the manufacturer will change vendors on the parts and these specs may change a little.
