The Probe Sensor (ATC) is an OEM replacement part for GE washers. It plays a key role in monitoring water levels and temperatures during cycles.

Symptoms of a bad probe sensor include:

  • Incorrect or inconsistent fill levels
  • Fluctuations in water temperature
  • Delays or failures at the start of cycles
  • Error codes related to lack of temperature/level readings

Causes can include normal wear over time as the delicate internal components are subjected to constant temperature changes and immersion in water. Mineral deposits or contaminants may also affect performance.

This GE replacement is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Fran, You will want to make sure that the pressure hose is not clogged up. If it is not then this would most likely be an issue with the pressure switch.

My GE top load washer will not fill. When I push the start button the fill LED blinks and beeps but the machine does not fill. I tried to do a self diagnostic but It shows no prob. I have already changed the water level switch with no success. My ? is if the board doesn't see a input from the thermistor sensor will it cause this problems? I have checked the thermistor with a ohm-meter and it read infinite resistance. The schematic in the washer tells me it should be around 47K ohms @77 degrees. Thanks for any help that can be provided, I'd hate to purchase another part for nothing again.

Gary, you will want to check to ensure that the belt is tight and does not have excessive play. Once that is verified, you will then want to check the agitator and agitator coupler to make sure that there aren't any broken or bad "teeth" that could cause the agitator to slip during agitation. Once that is verified, you will want to look at the motor assembly itself and verify that the control on it is operating properly. The control on the top on the motor is responsible for controlling the speed and rotation of the agitator.

My washer will not fill with hot or warm water when selected. Everything else works fine. Hoses are hooked up correctly. I replaced the valve, thinking it was a solenoid failing, but nothing has changed. If you shut off cold water valve, it will sometimes let hot water through for a few seconds and then make an electrical noise. Could it he a faulty probe sensor? Or is it insanely possible I received a defective valve? I guess another possibility is the control board?!? Thanks!

Sam, If there is only warm water flowing into the unit then the most likely cause would be the sensor WH12X10410. If there is no water at all running into the unit then test the valve to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to it and if there is then the issue will be a faulty valve.

Hello Joe, If unplugging the unit for 10 minutes doesn't reset the control to factory default and the drain is properly installed as per the installation instructions, the most likely cause of this will be either the water level switch WH12X10412 or the control WH12X10475.

Machine will run one load with no problem. On the second load it will go through the wash cycle and then stop at the point where it needs to drain and spin prior to the rinse cycle. Unplugging and waiting a few minutes does no good. Washer will just hum with no action on any cycle request (regular wash, quick rinse, drain and spin). Often, but not always, a 12 hour +/- delay (unplugged) will once again allow me to do one regular load cycle. And, if I vacuum out the water it will do a drain & spin cycle but, that is all. I've replaced the lid switch and circuit board.

Scott, If you look at the motor there should be a light flashing on the control board. Look to see how many times it flashes and compare to the tech sheet to see what the error code is.

Dean, This is a note that is in the owners manual for this model. "NOTE: This is a high-efficiency washing machine. This system requires less water while providing effective cleaning action. You may notice that the water level is lower than on your previous washer. This is normal."

Hello Ran. Remove the screws to access the inside of the control panel. Next access the top of the flume assembly. Lift out the old probe sensor. and trace the wires and unplug it. Plug in the new one and run the wires in the same location. Install the new sensor into the unit.

Hello Kim. You will need to check and see if the pressure switch is bad and will need to be replaced. Also, make sure the water valve is not bad on the unit.
