Nita April 23, 2013 for Model Number WBVH6240 I have replaced water pump in my GE frontloader washer Model #WBVH6240 twice already and now attempting to replace once again for the third time. I noticed that the first pump replacement part I purchased had a part # WH23X10028 and second pump had a part # WWH23X10026. This is my question(s): 1. Is there any difference in these two pumps and if so, what is it? 2. Does it matter which one of the two I use? Due to the fact that second pump (WWH23X10026) went out after only 1 year after installing, makes me wonder if this might have been caused by the fact that it might not have been the correct part. Another thing is the big difference in price between the two pumps. First one, pump (WH23X10028) was $125.00 and second pump one WWH23X10026) cost $30.00. Thank you.

1 Answer Hi Kat. Did you also remove the sump hose going to the pump that connects to the tub ? This is where the debris collect as well. You remove the pump filter from the front and clean as well. Check to see if the pump impeller is spinning loose on the shaft ? If so then replace the pump part # WH23X10028. Make sure there are no debris in the pressure switch hose going to the tub. Remove the top. Remove the hose from the switch and blow back into it towards the tub. If you have removed restrictions, then set the unit in a small wash. Fill and then advance it to spin. Has the door latch part # WH10X10006 locked ? If not it needs replaced. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. Mike B. December 05, 2011 for Model Number wbvh6240fgg I bought a GE washer that is leaving plenty of suds and water behind. It came with diagnostic error codes 23, 30, and 31 when I bought it. I removed the pump to see if the impellor was blocked, but it is not blocked. How do I know if the pump needs to be replaced ? It turns freely for a quarter turn and then its more difficult to turn, but it does turn. Do I need to replace the pump assembly / pump ? Thanks. Mike
1 Answer Hi Mike. Yes, first thing you need to do is get the pump free or if it will not as you mention, then replace it with part # WH23X10028. Then you use a pitcher and fill it up with cold water. Then open the washer and fill it up to the baffle level (w/cold water). Then press cancel or drain. Do this a few times to insure you have flushed out the "over soaping" condition which made the pump cavitate and overheat, damaging the pump and showing the fault codes mentioned. E-23= water valve, pressure switch or off balance. E-30 = drain pump issues. E-31= Slow drain , possible restrictions. Thank You. Read More...
