Butch June 19, 2015 for Model Number GE - jgbp79beb6bb I'm not sure which part to purchase? Bake & Broil do not work. Stove top does work. Both Bake & Broil ignitors light to an orange color. I made an ohms reading on the Bake ignitor with a results of 250 ohms. I made an ohms reading on the safety valve with a reading of 1.7 ohms. Can you help?
1 Answer Hello Butch. If both bake and broil went out at the same time, you will need to check the oven control WB27T10350 on the unit. If it is not sending power to the igniters, then it will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John C June 11, 2015 GE gas wall oven oven igniter is not getting enough volts to make it glow. The broiler igniter works fine, and I tested it to see that it gets about 120 v. when I power it up. When I power up the oven, the wires to the igniter are only getting about 25-50 v. Any idea on if and how I can fix that??? Thanks, John
1 Answer John, With the igniter getting only 25 to 50vac then you will want to test the thermostat or control board (depending on what your model has). This would be the most likely cause for igniter to not come on. Read More...
Rowdy May 19, 2015 for Model Number JGBS23BEA2AD On the over part there is gas going to the safety valve and the igniter is glowing but the oven won't light I tested the safety valve with a digial multimeter with the oven on and it only showed 1.4 v does this still mean the igniter is bad I seen where you said it should read 3.2-3.6 v. Thank You in advance for you time and information.

Cassius W. January 28, 2015 for Model Number PGR4410BDW Will the ignitor shown in the video fit my oven: maytag performa serial: 11284808yw ?

Mike January 05, 2015 for Model Number JGBP30wea8ww Bought a GE XL44 gas range 12 years ago. Replaced igniter 4 or 5 years ago and fixed problem. Classic symptoms....igniter slow to glow, oven didn't get very warm and food slow to cook. Last 2 months after reaching operating temp we've heard an occasional "puffing" or soft popping sound. We did not hear this sound when the first igniter went out. Wife thinks food is taking a bit longer to cook. Took oven floor pan off to look at igniter. Takes 15 seconds to start glowing. About 1 minute for gas to ignite. Ends do not glow. Only middle third gets white hot, rest of element orangish red. Is the igniter going out again? Is this the typical life span? Is it something else like the temp sensor element or gas valve? TIA.
1 Answer Hello Mike. Yes, you will need to replace the glow igniter on the unit. It is getting weak. Read More...

Wendy November 11, 2014 for Model Number ge spectra model 317B6641P001 Hello, I have a gas oven( ge spectra model 317B6641P001).Our oven has stopped working. Burners and broil are fine but oven wont heat. Trying to fix this ourselves and avoid expensive service call. From what I have read some articles suggest igniter could be the cause. Any ideas what to try first, or if you have heard of this issue? thanks so much Wendy
1 Answer Wendy, Start with the oven igniter. 95% of heating problems on a gas range/oven are due to a weak or broken igniter. Your post information would indicate that's where the issue is. The model number you supplied is incorrect so recheck the tag or visually inspect the igniter. You may be ordering the incorrect part for your range. Read More...
Dan R. October 11, 2014 for Model Number JGBP85BEJ1BB I changed my igniter about 5 months ago due to the oven not heating properly. Now it when i set it to 350 and confirmed with a dial thermometer, it will hit 350-375. Even though it is still at that temp, it will try to re-ignite to maintain the temp, even though its already at the right temp (it may rise up to around 400°). At that point it will cycle on and off very briefly over and over. The gas will light for about 30 seconds and then go out. I changed the thermostat anyway, since i though that might be the culprit, but it didnt resolve anything. My thought it that it might be the igniter again, but to have it fail after only 5 months seems pretty odd. Can you help?
1 Answer Hello Dan, This could be the ignitor but to test for sure, a clamp on amp meter should be put on one of the ignitor wires while the unit is powered up and turned on. If you read a current draw of 3.6 to 3.9 amps, the issue is more likely the temperature sensor WB20K10015 or the gas valve WB19K10041. Read More...
