Mike for Model Number JGBP30wea8ww Bought a GE XL44 gas range 12 years ago. Replaced igniter 4 or 5 years ago and fixed problem. Classic symptoms....igniter slow to glow, oven didn't get very warm and food slow to cook. Last 2 months after reaching operating temp we've heard an occasional "puffing" or soft popping sound. We did not hear this sound when the first igniter went out. Wife thinks food is taking a bit longer to cook. Took oven floor pan off to look at igniter. Takes 15 seconds to start glowing. About 1 minute for gas to ignite. Ends do not glow. Only middle third gets white hot, rest of element orangish red. Is the igniter going out again? Is this the typical life span? Is it something else like the temp sensor element or gas valve? TIA.
Answer Hello Mike. Yes, you will need to replace the glow igniter on the unit. It is getting weak. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 5, 2015
