Fred S Santa Barbara , CA January 24, 2016 Appliance: General Electric Gas Range JGB928BEK2BB Lower oven never worked bad thermostat Took off the gas burners, propped up the top, took out the old thermostat and wired the new one in. Getting the capillary tube down to the lower oven was a problem. I used a string taped to the old one when I pulled it out, but when I pulled the new one down to the hole in the oven, it would not go in.The hole was straight into the oven, and there was not enough space to turn the long straight bulb to go into the hole. Used a dremal and cut into the outer panel enough to get it turned. Covered the hole with a piece of aluminum. It is back behind the cabinets anyway. Proper thing to have done would be to have taken off the side of the stove, but didn't want to. Planned for an optimistic hour, but it took two. Estimate from the repairman was $287.
